I've gone to the Catholic Church with my father and the Methodist church with my Hubby. I also attended a Unitarian Universalism Church in Texas.
None of the buildings burst into flames when I entered.

Yeah I have gone to church and fact checked. I was doing a research article for my website. I mean church is a great place for people to make friends and feel like they are part of something, I am sure that is a big reason most of them go.

Yeah, actually, I never went to church until I became an atheist. A Christian friend forced me, hoping that I would convert. I didn't, of course. It was just boring.

Yes of course many people go to church after becoming an Atheist to please their loved ones who are Christian. It doesn't pain an Atheist to attend Church. I love attending Penitential churches and watching their frenzied shouting jumping around and speaking in tongues.

Well Yes.
Unless you totally intend to completely cut yourself off from your family. There will be Wedding, Births & Funerals - some in churches. Just because you might not believe doesn't mean you donot want to share in the Family's joy or grief.
& I include one's "Social" (or non-biological) family here.

I've gone to church, and I'm a Jew!
It's kind of like a big, gaudy circus with fewer sideshows and more animals, and lots of chanting as opposed to annoying rawk music.

I've been for weddings and funerals, but not for a regular service. Oh, and visiting famous and beautiful cathedrals I've also done. Even lit candles as a sign of respect for spirituality in general.

Course. I'm not going to miss out on the English choral tradition, nor will I refuse to go to weddings just because they're held in a church.

Yah, great place to meet nice friendly people that do not equate fun with alcohol.
Just find a moderate church, not one of them evangelicals, baptists, misc. crasies.
Yeah, the sermons are boring, but I kinda like singing, and there's plenty of stuff going on that has nothing to do with religion.
