Maybe not that I deserve it, but sometimes I wonder if I like having things be 'wrong' with me. Maybe it's a bit narcissistic-- like I like the attention and empathy I receive. However, if I feel I deserve it, it more than likely sends me deeper into the depression and makes me even more devastated at the situation.

Hi Giovanni. First matters first....You aren't alone. Nearly everybody at a while of their existence feels precisely the same method you do, So take a deep breath. The excellent news is it is the common procedure of establishing your sense of self. It will take the time, so you have got to be sufferer with your self. It's alright to have days where you just do not need to go out side and face the sector....But you need to also recognize that you are IN manage. You seem to have a consistent dialog along with your self that includes dwelling on matters from the past (which you can not change) and being anxious about things sooner or later(which you can't predict). The only factor you real have manipulate over is the reward second...And when you focal point on that, you'll to find that the whole thing you want, for this second, is here for you. Be your own high-quality buddy and you're going to quickly see, the extra you take delivery of yourself for your whole distinctive "flaws," the more you are going to to find your self surrounded by way of men and women who relate to you. Generally the one purpose we believe all alone, is since everyone is so petrified of being particular that we on no account real are ourselves. Go handy on your self, i'm definite you are a first-rate individual. However for those who rather can not seem to slow down the chatter for your mind, don't be afraid to search out support. I am definite you've got counselors at your college. Just right luck, and calm down.

I don't feel as if I deserve it, but I've always been sad (or solemn--I never smile in public) because of everything I've been through, so I feel pretty weird if I'm not sad. And when I am happy, it's almost too good to be true.

No I don't. Why would anyone feel they "deserve" to feel lousy? I suggest you seek out some counseling.
