It's hard to really answer this question not knowing the area you live in or the life style you carry. Yes the world is bias, but it really doesn't happen everywhere. It may be true to a certain extent. It may be true that you may live in a prejudice area in your town or it can be all in your head because you expect for people to treat you differently. I live in chicago, where it is pratically a melting pot. I don't see it, and I am very diverse and I visit all kinds of restaurants. From Maxwell Street to the John Hancock and I have always been treated fairly. In the process I have also dated African American that have shared the same taste and I never encountered an issue. I can only hope better for you and advise you to maybe see things differently next time you go out. You can also not think about it so much, which seems that you are already setting things up for failure in other people.

People stereotype. Do you eat in the same place? They will come to know you if you do. If you don't I am afraid to say that you will just have to ignore them and prove them wrong. Our society has a lot of bigoted people.

Maybe they are nervous. And that leads to inaction.
You never know.
