My soon to be three year old girl took on potty training herself, she doesn't like me to help her. She potty trained her self and did good for a week,no accidents . Now she is all of a sudden not using the toilet anymore and is back in diapers, she will not let me help her, is this normal?

My daughter did not want to use a potty chair and she did not want to be lifted to the toilet. What worked for her is The Potty Stool http://www.thepottystool.com This stool makes every toilet kid-sized. The handles on this stool make all the difference. My son and daughter potty trained quickly because they were so excited about this stool. They loved using the big toilet because they know that is what everyone uses. I like that it is sturdy and safe and got them out of diapers fast. The best part is kids use it for years. Hope this helps.

That is awesome that she is old enough and smart enough to potty train herself. I am unsure of the back in diapers though... did YOU put her back in diapers. When potty training it is best to be consistent... if she decided she was ready to be potty trained. Let her be a big girl. Throw away all the diapers and maybe get her something new... that only a "big girl would have" to celebrate her new phase of growing up. After all it was her idea. She could make this process really easy for you. But if you leave diapers as an option.. she may play this game with you for a long time and decide she wants to go back to diapers when ever she pleases... Just something to think about.

I would just be proud of your little girl for taking on the initiative that she is ready to be potty trained. What a smart little girl!

i guess this could be normal. A lot of small children want to be "babied" for as long as possible. i know a four year old who is very independent, but when her dad is around, she wants him to feed her and help her put her shoes and socks on... it's a ploy for attention. Once she decided that she would potty train, you should have thrown out all the diapers in the house. Get a plastic bedcover (they do have the softer ones now that don't feel like they are there) to protect her bed at night should there be an accident and take her shopping for panties! buy some for yourself too...it'll be a bonding experience

Hi there. Glad to see I'm not the only one in this boat. I'm having the exact same problems with my soon to be 3 year old son. He too took to potty training by himself the same way as your daughter. Now he's refusing to use the toilet. Everyone is giving some good answers. Any luck so far?

This is very normal. Make sure you keep rewarding her for going in the potty. What I do for my girls (one is currently being potty trained herself) is I get a large clear jar. I go to the dollar store and buy all sorts of goodies. The only way she can get one is if she makes a "deposit" to the potty. LOL. Don't fret your doing great!

I'm not sure if that's normal or not... but i have a suggestion for you!!! If she likes candy then for you to train her you can put a closed jar of candy in the bathroom on the counter so that they are visible to her, then explain to her that if she uses the potty like a big girl then she can have a piece of candy each time.. This will make her want to use the potty all the time... It really work, I use it all the time!!!

Yes, its normal. Try something new. Me and my wife now use a sticker system. We have a calendar and a book of different stickers. She earns a sticker each day for every day she does not pee pee in her pants. So far for the month of October, she has only missed two days. However they were early in the month and she is currently on a 7 day streak. Good luck and remember every kid is different. Hope it works for you.

yes, do you have a pet, or a younger child? if so, she might be feeling jealious, and is thinking, she was loved more when she was in dipers than when she was using the potty.
