That's wonderful! I like your brilliant and strong claws cat! Is your Cat male or female? If its female, I have to arrange with you male cat to mate with your cat. My male cat long knows how to fry fish, and not use of eating ham, so by then, my male cat can do cooking, and ask your female cat to get fish from the fridge because they can have picnic always best cooked fish of different hotel recipes, definitely your cat wont bother to eat ham, less faaattss. In case its your male cat, my female cat do same as my male cat. They really want to divorce already anyway. That's my real problem with my cats, because they can't agree on alimony amount (fish by the way).
You should be happy, you need not devote too much time feeding your cat, just put in your fridge good fresh fish, and veggie, seal the ham in tight canister. My cat knows already its not good for cats all in canisters.
By the way don't forget to call Guinness to visit your cat...it will bring fame to your pet over night. As much for you too.
Don't lock the fridge, consider your pet part of the Family, don't practice selfishness and cruelty to pets...please

If your cat can open the fridge, try fixing the door seal first, If that doesn't help, tape the door shut. Feed it a dry cat food that will help it lose weight, and play with it so it will get more exercise than it is getting now.
I know I'd be bragging to my friends if one of MY cats could do that!

Just go to a store and look in the baby supply area- try Target or something similar, or Babies R Us. They make specific fridge locks for toddler-proofing homes. It'll make it so you can easily open your fridge (without having to untie cords or tape) but the cat won't be able to. Simple.
And if he learns how to break into cupboards, they have locks for that too. :-)

Put a bungee cord around the handle and tie it to something else. It will be a pain to open the fridge all the time but that is better than your cat getting sick eating something thats poisonous to him.

I thought my cat getting into the pantry was bad!!! They have locks for most cupboards at hardware stores, I'm sure you could find something to fit on the fridge door... you might want to start spraying him with water everytime he goes near the fridge too.

Definitely find a good lock or cord.
I had a kitten who jumped in my refrigerator and I didn't realize it. Luckily, a few minutes later, I opened it ... and there he was! I still get chills thinking about what could have happened!
Be careful that your cat won't accidentally get shut in it. The sooner you find a solution, the better.

Go to the baby section of the store. Look for a child proof lock for the fridge. It works great kept my son out when he was little.

I had a ferret that learned that too, NOT GOOD!
Most refridgerators can be bungie corded shut, something the cat won't be able to undo to open the door. Keep the cording on till he 'forgets' how to open it or he gives up.

Tie the door of the fridge so he can't get inside... It should work and then discourage him to stop going to a refrigerator to get his food.
