Some religions put a lot of emphasis on baptism. Shouldn't Jesus have done so ?

No. At John 4:1-3 it says: “When, now, the Master became aware that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus was making and baptizing more disciples than John—although, indeed, Jesus himself did no baptizing but his disciples did."

In view of these great numbers that came to Jesus for baptism, it is reasonable to conclude that Jesus left their baptizing to his disciples so as to leave himself free for the more important work of spiritual and physical healing. Then too, Jesus no doubt refrained from baptizing any at all so that no one later would feel superior because of having been baptized by the Son of God or less favored because of not having been so privileged. Even as the apostle Paul years later wrote regarding his own case: “I am thankful I baptized none of you except Crispus and Gaius, so that no one may say that you were baptized in my name.” 1 Cor. 1:14, 15.

In Matt. 3:22, it says. After these things came Jesus and his disciples into the land of Judea; and there he tarried with them and baptized.

Then in Matt. ch 4:1-3 v2 say's (though Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples,)

So I'm very confused.

Not necessarily, Paul says that he didn't baptise anyone either. Baptism could have been carried out by any one of the disciples, it didn't have to be Yeshua.

The idea that an "ordained" person or a "leader" had to do the baptism is a fiction of men.

Many of Jesus' sermons were near water. I would think that many were baptized. If not by him personally, by his disciples.
He sent the Holy Spirit to baptize with fire.

Jesus said that John batized with water, but He would baptize with the Holy Spirit and with fire.

Jesus WAS baptised, but never baptised anyone....atleast it's not mentioned in the bible.

But Jesus DID say that a man must be born of water and of the spirit to enter Heaven.
