There is a fruit tree at one of local parks. My next door neighbor also has this same kind of fruit tree in his front yard. The fruit is bright red with yellow flesh. It looks like a bumpy cherry. I'm in Northern California, if that helps at all. Anyone know what this is??

It sounds like it could be a type of crabapple. Their leaves look similar to regular apple tree leaves. You might check out some different tree sites for the leaves. I'm sure your neighbor wouldn't mind you having a fruit and leaf. In fact, your neighbor will probably also like to know what it is. (I've assumed you asked and they don't know.)
