I agree that society has influenced many of us to be more reticent about our faith. However, I haven't noticed any real persecution in the U.S., so it's hard to say whether I'd be willing to die to bring the lost to Christ. As much as I might like to complain about certain aspects of the state of our country, I am thankful that I don't have to face that choice. I would hope that I'd be willing to die if it ever came to that. Personally, I am going to really mean it the next time I pray that God will "save us from the time of trial." Thanks for making me think!

Yes I would give my life for another. Here is the true story of 2 soldiers during WW2. They were pinned down by German machine gun fire. One said to the other , I can die because I am a Christian but you can not die since you are not . At that moment another enemy machine gunner found their position and began raining down on them a vicious attack of bullets. the saved Christian soldier threw his body over the unsaved man and absorbed all the bullets killing him and sending him straight to heaven. The other soldier stayed under the dead body of his comrade til nightfall and then made his way back to his outfit. Here is a case of a man giving his life so that only one man could be saved . And the good news is that the surviving soldier became a Christian and eventually became an effective evangelist in South Africa bringing thousands to Christ. Jesus died for us all, so that we might die also and yet live forever. So yes indeed I would count myself lucky to be able to die so that one man could come to Christ.

I try to let the Holy Spirit open doors for me to tell people about the grace of God. I have found that if you try to force the truth on people a lot of times you do more harm than good, and push them farther from salvation. When the time is right, God will give you the opportunity to help people. Jesus said to pray for laborers for the harvest. Sometimes we are the laborers for people we know, sometimes it has to come from someone else to be effective. Let God lead you, and then people will listen.
Anyway, i got off on a tangent there. My answer is that we should always be prepared to preach the Gospel to the lost, when God leads us to. Regardless of whether people around us like it or not.

Yes I'm willing to die for Jesus fortunately I have not been asked to.
A lot of Christians might be willing to die for Jesus say a gun to our head situation thats a simple decision. However the real challenge is this. To LIVE for him, so that people can look at our lives and see the difference. And yes I agree with you this whole PC deal is for the birds. BUT< there is a way to have strong beliefs and express them in a nonconfrontational way. BUT thats not to say we shouldn't be ready for confrontation.

I don't try to push religion on people, but I am quick to defend my beliefs when I hear someone running them down or misquoting scripture to fit their own view..I am a firm believer in using scripture to back up what you say, but you need more than one to convince me of your viewpoint..
Sometimes it is more the ones who think they are saved but have not accepted Jesus as their Savior that are the hardest to reach. They have been around church doings all their life, went to church every Sunday and yet do not know the Lord as their Savior.
So, you are preaching to the choir here..I'd like to shake your hand....

Why would I need to?
Christ has already done everything necessary to reconcile all people with God.
It is not our role to save anyone. We are called to let our light shine: to proclaim the Gospel, not offer it. How God uses that is up to him.
Jesus didn't condone sin, but he didn't spend a lot of time beating people up for lying, blasphemy, adultery, etc.
Jesus DID make enemies with the Pharisees and Sadducees... who spent a lot of time beating people up for lying, blasphemy, adultery, etc.

I think people take such statements as a license to be "obnoxious for Jesus."
This idea that you have to get in peoples' faces is ridiculous - you will not bring one person to Christ by being a vacuum cleaner salesman for the Kingdom.
"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, because you travel around on sea and land to make one proselyte; and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of hell as yourselves. " (Matthew 23:15)
Your real exercise of the Great Commission is to be LIKE Christ.
