Most cats are nocturnal and they hunt at night. IF you really want the cat to sleep when you're sleeping you will have to train it to sleep by making sure that it's tired at night. You do that by playing with them a lot during the day. IF the cat is a kitten it shouldn't be to hard if the cat is already an adult it might be a bit harder as they are usually more set in their ways.

Naturally, cats are more active at night. This usually isn't a problem, as they have superb sight. Plus, in some areas, the days are far too hot, so it becomes instinct to sleep through the day and hunt at night. If no one is home all day to stimulate the cat, or he has no companions, then theres almost no point in staying awake to do stuff. Night is.. well, think of it this way, its more challenging to them to play at night, because although they have night vision, its dark, its quieter, and there are odd noises. Over time though, the pet will learn that humans sleep at night, so making noises at night isn't exactly good.

Kitty will be most active in early morning and late evening. But if you give her plenty of exercise during the day, this can help tire her out and sleep more during the night. Invest in some cat toys and be sure to play with her an hour before bed time.

Cats are like humans in the sense that some are morning cats and some are evening cats. Dogs are either loud or lazy, but cats fit some indivuals better than others. So a different cat? Drink more evening coffee? A doggie replacement? Kittie sleeping pills? Your decision.

I grew up around cats they'll almost always do that especially when there's nothing goin on to arouse their curiosity during the day. Try leaving some music on or something when nobody's in the house they'll sleep less soundly and hopefully it'll help slide their waking times over some.

who said cats HAD to sleep at night & play during day?
Isn't it really up to her anyway?
If she's young-try to get her some toys, sprinkled with chemical-free catnip and give her plenty of attention by playing with her throughout the day. Don't mess with her (playfully anyway) at night. Let her be.
If she's old-let her do what she wants, she's a cat!

Cats generally sleep during the day. My cat will follow me around for awhile in the morning, take himself off for a nap around again at lunch, get up and have a little wonder, then its off for the afternoon nap, up again at dinner time, then the evening nap and then his full of beans as we go off to bed. To stop him disturbing us at night we have a spare room that houses his toys, litter tray food etc and when we go to be we put him in his room for the night. That way he gets to have fun and we get a good night sleep.

My first thought is: this is probably a young kitty. Keep her up all day. Cats are normally noctournal, but since they sleep so much, you may be able to train kitty to sleep at night. Keep her active all day, this may be a challenge for you.
