My stepmom makes ALL the rules at my dads house...she tries to control everything..and my dad just goes along with it. My mom lets me get away with a lot. I don't want to hurt anyone. What should I do?

My dad has what a lot of people call 'Yes, dear' syndrome. HE AGREES WITH EVERYTHING MY STEPMOM SAYS!!!! and shes only 10 years older then me. My mom lets me get away with a lot which is only compared to what i can get away with now...and recently my stepmom decided that she was going to control which music goes on my ipod...and told me to take off songs that i heard when i was 5. She also won't let me choose which school i want to go to...even tho i want to go to the BEST school in the area...

I have 5 years before i'm 18. Neither can get me goin to the school i wanna go to..but together they can if my dad and stepmom would cooperate. I already spend time at both houses...i hate having 2 go bk and forth tho...its ok sometimes but gets annoying after awhile. and my stepmom will SEARCH for my ipod if i don't show it to her when she asks for it.

I CANNOT GET ANYMORE GROWN UP!!! i already act like a grown up...but they dont treat me that way...and my stepmom doesn't listen to it with me...just says "NO." even tho i have listened to the song since i was like 5 and my dad at one time said it was ok but now he says no just b/c of her.

Follow her rules and behave yourself. Your fathers house is not your mothers. And your mother isn't doing you any favors.

I am in the same situation, only I am the stepmom. Yes, I make all the rules even the songs on the ipod. I know it seems like your stepmom is being strict but shes probably doing everything that is in your best interest. When one of my stepkids want a new song or cd that I question we will sit down and listen to it together. I let my kids tell me why they want it and I tell them why I don't like it. We can usually come to a compromise that makes everyone happy.
What you should do is try talking to your dad and stepmom together and don't whine. Don't cry and throw a fit like a 2 y.o. Really make your case about things. The more grownup you act the more grown up they will treat you.

The mama in a given house rules.
If you stay with your dad, the mama is the stepmom.
If you stay with your mom, that is who you answer to.
Time to add things up and think them through...
How long do you have before you are 18?
Which one can get you going to the best school?
Can you divide your time between your mom's and dad's houses?
Perhaps load what you want on your i-pod at your mom's house (or a friend's house) and then hide the thing from the step-mom?
There are ways of being a little bit slicker.

Talk to your dad and find out if he agrees with the rules. Then, if he does agree with the rules, you will have to live by them. It is your dad's house!!!
