Do you mean a married couple have a baby and the father dies, then mom remarries and the new spouse adopts the child legally? That makes him the adopted father. The child's name can be changed if the parents wish and the birth certificate may be changed as well depending on what state you live in. This is not a step parent. A step parent is one who does not adopt a child. It would be no different than if both parents adopted the child.

A step-father is someone who marries the mother, but who is not the biological father. A man who adopts a child, for whatever reason, no matter what the situation for that adoption, becomes the father - not the stepfather - of that child.

NO. If the step-father adopts the child then the step-father becomes the child's father.

No. The adoption makes him the legal father, nothing can change who the BIOLOGICAL father is. You may be confusing biological with legal and step.

Hope this helps.

If you are 17 you possibly ready to simply tell the decide you do not need him to adopt you. After we adopted my brothers all people was once there in the room so you must be there when it occurs. Just state your emotions to the judge.

in a case of adoption your last name changes to the adopted parents last name and he then becomes your adoptive father.but that does not change your real fathers biological title of father.
