The recommended allowance for sodium is 2400 mg.

Sodium is a powerful electrolyte -- that means that it helps the body to conduct electricity to do the fun things like . . . beat the heart, or help the intestines move when there's food in them. . . .

But. . . too much of anything isn't good. While sodium is an electrolyte, it can also cause higher blood pressure -- which can strain the heart. It can cause us to retain water, which can make us feel bloated, or gain weight and put more pressure on our body to remove that fluid. It can damage the kidneys, of there's too much.

I always suggest the low-sodium versions of anything . . . because -- even with the low-sodium versions, you're probably still going to come close to the RDA for sodium.

It is if you have high blood pressure or any heart condition. Otherwise it is no problem. There is a low sodium V8 if you need low sodium. It makes a great bloody mary. lol

Only if you have high blood pressure. If so, you can just try the low sodium variety.
