It seems that today the only people coming into the church need to have a giant jumbletron screen and a rock band and pizza and lattes in the back. What gimmicks will be needed in the next 10 years?

Not at my Church!

I have mixed feelings about this trend myself. One side of me just wants to hold to the straight teaching of God's Word, a little prayer, and a few songs (either hymns or praise songs, or both). The other side of me blames the shortening attention span for the need to do whatever it takes (within reason, of course -- no strippers) to bring people in so they have the opportunity to hear the Good News. In the end, people that come to Christ one way are just as Christian as those that come the other way.
Have a great night!

Oh yeah, better answer the actual question. The jumbotron has to be HD and the pizza and lattes can remain the same.

Personally, I understand exactly where you are coming from but, dear, you don't need a "gimmick" in order to help saved people. All we as Christians need to do is speak the Word of God and let the Lord do what He do. I have been in a church like that one time before and never went back to one. I just don't believe you need to do all of that to get a person's attention in the name of the Lord. God bless you.

Ahh, the problem of culture influencing the Church, instead of the Church influencing culture. Personally, I don't need an emotionally laden experience, I don't need smoke machines, puppet shows, or entertainment, give me a man who expounds on the Scriptures properly, with good exegesis, and I am happy and blessed. Leave all that other stuff to the heathen culture. We come into the assembly to worship God, in His way, and be taught faithfully in the Scriptures, with that, we should be content.

My church does not have any gimmicks. We are there because we want to hear the word of God being preached and taught. We have great wholesome music that stirs the heart, not music that makes your nerves stand on end.

that's one of the reasons i don't attend church, altho i consider myself a christian. *gasp*

church always looking for money to build an addition to the church, to build this or to buy a new sound system, or something else. I prefer to give my money to use for helping the desperate in need of a hand up.

Church is for the sinners. If we were perfect, there would be no need for a church. All the same, we don't have stuff like that at my church.

No gimmicks where I attend church. Really. It is the same Mass every Sunday...nothing fancy like you've stated, yet, I attend simply out of love for Christ Jesus, our Lord.

The church I attend doesn't have "gimmicks". People attend because they believe in God.
