On my last question, somebody said that the reason humans are higher than animals is because we have souls and they don't? Now that is just a total load of bullcrap that infuriates me!

Don't TELL me my cat doesn't have a soul. He's more loving, and much smarter than almost all the people I know of. To say he doesn't have a soul would be like saying that water's made from refridgerators.

I may not be a Christian, but I do believe that all living things have souls, especially cats and dogs!

Love does to equal soul! I don't understand this mentality that Christians think humans are better than the rest of the animals. Obviously, that's not true!

morganie, if you left a feral, starving person in a room with a baby they'd eat it.

No, my cat could go to any other house in my neighborhood and get food and shelter. He CHOOSES to live here because of the very fact that he loves me.

I'm not even the one who feeds him, but still, he often asks me to hold him and pet him.

Whatever a "soul" is, either both we and cats have it, or neither of us have it. Now, I think that no-one and nothing has a soul, but I'm okay with you defining soul the way that you are here - my cat has those characteristics as well.

This is one of the things I find most negative about the notion of a "soul": it's an invisible, unmeasurable thing, and yet we put moral agency on its back. That's putting ourselves in the place of gods, and it's not only terribly arrogant, it's the fast track to atrocities.

Any morality that justifies the treatment of other animals differently from humans on the basis of a "soul" is a perverse morality.

Get on here and rant all you want honey, but I will tell you this God created Adam out of his own Image God is not an Ape! He created Humans to take care of animals therefore we are above animals but are to treat them with love and respect because they are God's creatures. You chose to believe your cat has a soul but my question is if you don't believe in God and heaven where do you think your cat's "soul" is gonna go???

I'd rather spend eternity with a pet than most christians i have met in life. god's eye is on the sparrow, according to the bible. what makes someone think that spirit of life does not return to the creator? Only religion dictates what god loves or desires. God has his own ideas about things and it does not include christians or others who claim they speak for him. All living things have energy, dogs, cats, people, monkeys, whatever is living with the breath of life. Death releases that energy to return to its source or origin, the creator, the great divine, whatever you want to call it. there is no proof that the divine does not collect animals or plants either for that matter. Perhaps we go beyond heaven and enter a new life in another universe? Perhaps we become spiritual immortal beings roaming the expanse of space? Only the dead know for sure and so far they haven't told John Edwards what to expect either.

I do not doubt the affection your cat has for you, and vice versa, but there is a difference between humans and animals according to Genesis.

Gen 1:24 And God said, Let the earth bring forth living creatures after their kind, cattle, and creeping things, and beasts of the earth after their kind: and it was so.
Gen 1:25 And God made the beasts of the earth after their kind, and the cattle after their kind, and everything that creepeth upon the ground after its kind: and God saw that it was good.

Gen 2:7 And Jehovah God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

Notice the difference? God breathed into man, giving him a spirit and soul, He did not do this for the animals. Whether animals have a soul or spirit is debatable, but that does not deny their affection and devotion to their owners.

im not in to the religion thing at all but yes whoever said that is an idiot...animals are very similar to human they think and feel just as we do period...the reason there is a difference is because there is a natural food chain everyone cant have the same smarts it just wouldnt make sense but what does make sense is that every living thing serves a purpose

Read Eccl. 3:18-20: That Men “might see that they themselves are beasts. …Yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity. All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again.”

If people have souls, so do animals. Anyone with a dog or cat knows animals have souls.

Well when I went to a catholic school they told us that animals have no souls and they wont go to heaven like us. But I dont believe that for a second, i mean nobody knows for sure, you wont know for sure until you die. So in my opinion i do believe animals have souls because they are way too intelligent and it seems to me that they have emotions too.

As a true Christian...The Bible teaches that we ARE souls, it is our life, JUST like the Animals, nothing imortal floating around after....Just like Fido, when we extinguish our last breath, our soul also dies.
P.S I JUST SWAM WITH DOLFINS in Bermuda, WE are truly ALL souls together. I also have three dogs one kitty, a lonsome dove and a python!
We are ALL kindred spirits, all creations of God.
So were does the bible teach sould equality????????
Genisis 2:7 God blew the Breath of life into the man and the man came to be a soul...see? he became a soul...not WAS GIVEN...a soul...Man became a living creature, a being.
1Corinthians 15:45 backs that up. The first man Adam became a living soul/psy-khe you yourself.
1Peter,3:20 it refers to Noah and his family...8 souls..8 lives, Oh you Poor Soul, look how wet and cold you are!
No one would interpet Poor soul as a special entity with in us that does not die , right?
A soul is our being NOW, HERE, just like the animals
One last scripture
Joshua 11:11 They went striking every soul that was within the edge of the sword.
Can you touch the supposed IMMORTAL SOUL??????????
NO, it is Mortal man that the word soul reffers to!
SO my beloved horse, dog, cat, python, dove, Grandchild, myself, we have MORTAL souls, not immortal.
If we are resurrected at all, it is because we were faithful to the Almighty God in the Bible and to His Son Jesus...who also did NOT teach immortality.
Because, when Jesus best friend Lazarath died, Laz. was dead for four days...plenty of time to get to Heaven, right?
Well IF JESUS loved LAZARATH sooo much and IF Laz were in Heaven with his Immortal soul, happy?
Would Jesus have ruined that by brining Laz back to life?
NO!!!!! There is no Immortal soul, we are mortal, and Jesus was a forshadow of an EARTHLY RESSURECTION for faithful followers, Christian is NOT an Exclusive invitation to that ressurection of the faithful.
But because we are NOT immortal, we depend on God for the ressurection decission!
I AM HOPING TO BE RESSURECTED IN MY HORSES STALL! with the Border collie, and the shepherd, and Basset,
Not to mention be able to get a closer relationship with those dolfins I met in Bermuda...They kiss on the lips!!!!!!!!!!!

i'm not sure if there are any religions that say animals have souls, and i don't think this question has anything to do with religion either (unless my first phrase was wrong)

anyway, i'm saying this excluding my religion. humans are higher than animals because God created humans to control them (or something like that). animals definitley have personality and such, but a spiritual soul is what i'm not sure of
