There are those that think that Jesus was the greatest con man in history. There are those that think he was nothing but a wise man, others don't believe he existed at all, and some say he was the Messiah - the son of G-d Himself.

Who knows? No one alive today was alive back then. We'll all find out when we die.

Everyone needs something to believe in, I believe I'll have another beer.

This is an interesting question.
Jesus was the only one who was able defeat death. In my opinion, why should this give Jesus a divinity charachteristic? if it should, then why should he be the son of God, why not the God himself?

I personally, as a muslem, I believe in Jesus, his name in Arabic is also The Messeih, he was a prophet of God who made many miracles like returning dead people to life, all of this because he was the prophet of God, he was sent by God like many other prophet who also made miracles.

The message of God is alwasy the same, peace, love and all of these things, but if this was the message, it has nothing to prove that the person who says that is the son of God.

As per how christianity spread after the death of Jesus, it is because christianity is a true religion from heaven, whether the prophet who sent this religion died or not, the God who sent this prophet never dies. After the death of Jesus, the bible was changed by Constantin, ruler of the Roman empire, try to read "da vinci code" for example.

In the end,
- Jesus is a true person because history tells us that he exists.
- Jesus is a prophet because history tells us about miracles that he did
- Jesus is not the son of God because what he did was similar to many things that other prophets did. There nothing certain that tells us that Jesus is the son of God except the current bible that noone is sure it is true.

This is a good question. You are right - many people claimed to be god throughout time. We usually put those people in the nuthouse!

But if you read the gospels you will see that Jesus did not talk like a nut! He taught people how to live better lives. He even performed many miracles to prove that he was who he said he was. He even rose from the dead to prove he was who he said he was!

Look at the way Christianity spread after the death of Jesus - it is unexplainable - without a war, without a political upheaval, worship of Jesus spread like wildfire throughout the Roman empire. Why would so many people choose to worship a dead man if they were not convinced that he was alive?

Why would I worship someone who lived 2000 years ago if I were not convinced he is alive, hears my prayers, and helps me in my life today? He does!

There is no other way to explain Christianity than that it is the truth.

Good question: My answer is, through GRACE, I am certain of who Christ Jesus is, and His existence. I don't think this belief happened through my own ability to perceive and believe, but only through God, who gives you the Grace necessary to have full faith. Does that sort of make sense? I guess what I am trying to say is......why is it that I don't need evidence, why is it that I don't feel the need to have been there and seen it myself....the normal human brain would push you to look for these things, wouldn't it?

Its because
a) I opened my heart up to Him and trusted Him to work within it

b) when I did, The Lord gave me what was necessary to live by faith and not by sight.

c) since then, I have felt the presence of Christ, our Lord, in my life, in my heart, and in my whole being.....and this is such a stronger sense than any of our human senses.

Hence, I am not swayed in the least bit by attempts to discredit His existence, nor do I need I need physical evidence of His existence...He has given me all the evidence I need, in my heart.

Hope this helps :)

I have had this question myself after 40 years a catholic, but reading so much research shows me he did not live then and the only Jesus that can be found was 1000 years earlier. The bible was written during Constinites rule by committee. So I am having to look at my faith deeper.
I still like the messages of loving thy neighbor and such, but there is alot of research that points to it all being made up.
funny thing is I could never believe that the pope had any special authority and I always believed i can communicate with God anytime, anyplace!
so for now I look at my former faith as a stepping stone...

You have reason to doubt, just like I do.
There are other religions that claim whom they worship is either god or the son of god. If you ask them, they'll say theirs is the true god or 'truest' son of god, not Jesus... but the door swings both ways, and I'm having none of it.

I am certain Jesus is who he is because he has revealed himself to me. No one can really answer your question because you are the only one who can choose to believe and once you choose to believe then God will reveal himself to you. You see that's how God works he doesn't have to prove himself to anyone just for the sake of well proveing himself people who seek him find him plain and simple. If your curious b/c you want to know if there is more out there then seek him with a pure heart and you will find him. Good Luck and may God bless you and reveal himself to your heart. Oh and you'll need to find yourself a church I'm being bias here but a Pentecostal church would be a great church to check out first. ;-)

I believe because of my personal experiences. For an example:

One day I stopped to use a payphone, I was trying to find an apartment that was for rent and was lost. When I stopped while the phone was ringing a limo pulled up and it was the mob. (The mob ran the whole darn town at that time.) 3 men and a women got out of the car. The women was clearly angry, she wanted to date my boyfriend who wanted nothing to do with her, thus she hated me. They were walking towards me and two put their hands in their coats and pulled out guns. I said "Dear Jesus, God, please help me."

No sooner did I say that they all stopped and all of the color drained from their faces. They put the guns backed and in a confused looking state got back in the limo and drove away.

Now this is the truth. 100% and I have many many other experiences like this. I have visions and I believe. I believe with all of my heart, soul and mind. There is no doubt for me as to who he is. He saved my life before I was born and he has spared me many times after.

I guess it just comes down to faith. If you can withstand the attacks of so many people that say that Jesus was not divine, then you've come a bit closer. I'm not sure why, except that Jesus is the only one who ever claimed to be the Son of God who has sparked the faith within me.
