That humans are NOT animals??? I saw a few Christians post that. If we aren't animals, what are we? Plants? Bacteria? Protists? Fungi?
I mean, we ARE animals! We belong to the kingdom animalia (animals).
Same with the fact that they think we aren't apes... we ARE. It's proven! I can understand that they think God created the universe and was the overseer of evolution, but it's pretty obvious. We're apes.
I also thought that all Christians nowadays just thought Adam and Eve was a folk story, same with Noah's ark. They believe that???

But, we ARE apes. And monkeys aren't apes... Apes are like gorillas and chimps.

Ugh, why do people think that when I say we're apes that automatically makes us like gorillas? No.
Species: Human

we are of course a species of ape. you are quite correct about that. and christians cannot believe that this is so because catholic doctrine says god placed man above the animals and gave him dominion over them and all the earth. only recently have some christians finally had to accept evolution as fact under the crushing weight of the evidence presented by all facets of science and the natural world. but what i think bothers christians the most about evolution is the notion that we have not FINISHED evolving thereby proving once and for all that man was not created special by god.

You assume so much young one. Yes real Christians believe in the Noah story and yes anthropologist have found that just about every major ancient culture in the world seems to have a flood element in their stories and scientists have found much evidence that at some point in earths history there was a great event that shifted climate and land scape conditions.
And though you mock the Adam and Eve story it is quite logical that if humans 'evolved' then at some point you had to have two individuals that helped to get humanity started.
Also, Christians nor Christianity never said the humans aren't part of the animal world but that humans are a special creations because they have an element of a soul where as animals do not.

Darwin's Theory caused the uproar known as fundamentalism. Even Darwin was reluctant to publish his findings for years due to his fear of upsetting society. He was a very nice man. However, upon receiving a letter from Alfred Russell Wallace outlining the same findings in other parts of the world, Darwin's competetive nature compelled him to publish "On The Origins Of Species" in 1859.
The fundamentalists soon arose in backlash, and have been lying ever since (see the Lady Hope Myth).
It's sad when otherwise intelligent people cannot accept the facts that we are not just mammals, but apes. Obligate, bipedal apes with a better brain, arguably.
My neighbor is a devout Pentacostal who describes himself as an animal, especially during exercise and discussing diet. He points to my dog and says "Sister doesn't drink Coca Cola so neither do I".
Wrench, if you want to see men acting like apes or lesser primates, visit your local topless dance club.
We are, by definition, apes. Case closed. You can't wish away the facts.

You believe your from an ape, yet nobody has ever seen an ape actually evolve into anything. And the "It takes a million years" is so clique. Scientists have never discovered a "missing Link" nor any sort of ancient community to support their case.
Fossils are all in full transition. None IN transition. (If there was then Evolutionists would be bragging on CNN by now.)
And If humans did Evolve from an ape, why has the process suddenly...stopped?

I'm a Christian. I believe in evolution. We are not apes, but homo sapiens. I do not believe that Adam and Eve were the first humans--I believe this is a story passed down to express the idea that we were created by God. I know many Christians and theologians who believe the things I believe. I also know many who don't. I did not vote for George Bush. Please don't lump us all in together.

Many of them (40-50% according to surveys) believe that the bible is literally true -- Adam and Eve, Noah and the Ark, and all that jive.
A similar percentage are also totally convinced or strongly believe that the world will end in the next fifty years -- not exactly conducive to building a sustainable society, particular when you consider that nearly half of Americans are actually EAGER for a war in the Middle East that they believe will be the beginning of the end and the return of their Invisible Sky Daddy to Earth...

I think we are a higher FORM (in some ways) of animal, not that we aren't animals
And I don't know of any Christian that sees those stories as folk tales, Adam and Eve were the first humans and Noah had an ark. Yes, we believe it, so what?

Usually when people say "animals" they think of savage beasts like lions, wolves, or sharks...and they do not consider, or really think, that humans(although we can be savage) aren't like them and therefore not an animal....
but what you said is true, we ARE animals.
And NO, we're NOT apes...we're Homo Sapiens...you have to go way back past species, and genus, to family before we and apes are connected.
And yeah....we believe the story of creation and the flood...

we are not apes we were made in the image of God and it has not been proven that we are apes. what people are trying to make you and millions of others believe (including myself) is that we are a mistake of nature. we were made by God and if you want to know the truth read the bible.
