If you are near a military base, take the packages to the commander of the Rear Detachment of a deployed unit (or the Rear D chaplain or the Family Support NCO).
Many would be willing to put the packages into their daily correspondence to be sent to the unit as 'any soldier' mail.

Use the pre-printed flat rate postage boxes available at the post office. You can send as much weight as you can cram in it for about $9.00 to any APO, AE or similar address. This is much cheaper than mailing by the pound.

Contact the nearest Blue Star Moms chapter near you. They send care packages overseas to the troops. If you bring what you have to them, they will see it gets there.
Semper Fi salute to you and the kids for backing our troops like this.

Send smaller packages.
Send one at a time.
Use your money.
Donate the packages to an organization that has the postage.
Prior planning prevents poor performance. If they'd saved up their nickels and dimes for postage first, they'd have had that problem licked.

Check with your local VFW or American Legion Post They would be more than happy to see the packages get delivered.

I would let the post office know or school and see if someone is able to help. They can also put a small article in the local paper and you can get donations that way.

Contact your local VFW. They might have a better idea of local groups who might be able to ship the goods that have been collected. God bless you and your family for supporting the troops.
