For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. Revelation 22:18-19
I would be really scared to add anything to God's Word or take away from it, wouldn't you?

Of course, why would anyone want to either way. We are not God. How could any human being think they could possibly correct God in anyway.
I agree with you, my friend!

study the history of the bible texts and you will find that the catholics,or as they were known at the time the christians under the reign of constantine were the only people that had a copy of the new testament . at the time ,constantine ordered the scribes to come up with about 50 bibles in a set time and of course as sponsors of the project the romans exerted a great deal of pressure concerning the content .thus the fairytale of pontius pilate governor of all judea allowing his subjects to tell him who to execute.
so this is why i left the catholic church i couldn't trust the doctrine and to this day can't believe that Jesus never married.
any way read revelations with great caution ! these are feeble attempts to describe things that were far beyond the
ability of the reporters to describe.
long story short ,be thankful for what books remain which provide more than enough info to cast your lot ,pro or con as to whether to believe or not.and keep your mind open to new texts that possibly didn't make the initial cut .
go with god and thank you for your interest;
sincerely joe c

Catholics are not the only ones who do that....
However, there are several Bibles out there which do that very thing...such as the NIV, and the Living Bible...to name a couple of popular ones. The Holy Bible is inspired by the HOLY SPIRIT. Although the Church at large was Catholic when the original Bible was compiled, I believe God uses any means possible to distribute His Word to us. In 1299 AD, the Roman Catholic Church outlawed the Holy Bible and commanded that all the common people seek a priest to tell them what they were to do in religious affairs. Scary huh?

Revelation 22:18, 19 is talking aboaut the Book of Revelation.
When John wrote his revelation, there WAS no such thing as the Bible, therefore, he did not mean the Bible.
Besides, GOD is the one who adds scripture, and God can add what He wants to His words.

Revelations was written a few hundred years BEFORE the bible was even being put together by the church!! Therefore "the words of this book of this prophecy" isn't talking about the BIBLE, it's talking about "The book of Revelations"....
Revelations was written in the second century(like 100 something AD by John) and the bible was put together in like 398 AD(or somewhere around that year)

Take away or add Yes I think we need to be careful about that especially leaders/ preachers in church. But I think that there is a chance that you will follow it to closely and hence forget to put it in context. Revelation is a HARD book to understand and there is several interpretations of it as a whole and of this passage! Christianity is not about rules its about relationship!

In Revelation, the statement was referring to the book of Revelation. The bible hadn't been compiled yet. Besides, the books in the Bible were not compiled in chronological order.

Look at the Ten Commandments... the catholics tampered it and add the easier commands for them to comply... If we truly believe in GOD, then we have to respect the 4th commandment which is to keep the 7th (Sabbath) day holy. It says " Remember the Sabbath and keep it holy". Then why are most people prefer to go to church every Sunday? The dark ages change all this... we were keep blind by the truth by the Pope in Rome who killed the true Christians who they dubbed us heresy.
