Stay away from the sugar coated crap. You have 1200 calories a day to play with..use them wisely and read labels...

Actually it can be, but don't focus so much on that. Read the label on your cereal and find out how many calories you're eating. I usually recommend that people who are trying to lose weight reduce their calories to about 1500 a day (never go below 1200, that's like starving yourself). Generally 1500 calories a day, regardless of your size will help you to lose weight. Also try some light weight training. The more muscle you have, the more fat you burn at rest. If you can incorporate some cardio, do that too. Try to walk for abut a half hour a day or start jogging. Instead of watching your weight, try measuring your body around your hips, thighs, and upper arms as your measure of success because as you gain a little muscle, you may actually gain just a little bit of weight because muscle is heavier than fat, and you don't want that to discourage you.

Remember to eat healthy foods, and drink lots of water. Water aids your body in destroying fat. If you don't drink water, you'll have two problems...one is water retention because your body thinks you're dehydrating, and it is withholding water from burning fat because it thinks that it's saving water for a crisis. Secondly, if that water is being retained, it's not being used to burn fat. Drink water!

Drink water, drop the calories to 1500/day, and eat healthy foods, and tape yourself, don't weigh yourself. You'll do just fine.

If cereal is all you have and all you can afford, try to avoid sugary cereals. Try something like Special K or Total that is high in vitamins. I also attached a list of WIC cereals only because they are carefully selected for their vitamin contact because the WIC program is designed to keep moms and their babies healthy.

Take care, and I hope that things go well for you!

Look at the nutrition information. Those are highly sugary cereals. They might fill you up for a little while, but anything high in carbs will only last for an hour or so. Oatmeal would be a better choice. You need to have protein in your diet so you get iron too.

I don't think that it would be fattening, but some cereals don't have very much fiber in them, or no fiber at all.

Most cereals don't have too much fat in them, but some cereals have a lot of sugar in them.

Also, your cereal doesn't have any fruits and vegetables in it, or protein.

You need to eat food from ALL of your food groups.

Even though there isn't much in the house right now, and you can't afford very much food, you STILL need to eat food from ALL of your food groups.

I don't think anyone else knows about this, but I'll tell you a secret: Food companies have been hiding all their nutritional information on their boxes. It's tough to find, though. Sometimes it's on the back of the box, or sometimes those tricky bastards put it on the side! Who'da thunk it?

Nothing is "fattening" provided you're not a lazy slob, and can burn off what you take in.

Well, one possible problem is that if you eat all carbs, expecialy if they're highly processed, (eg. sugar and white flour) you will probably get hungry again sooner than if you eat the same number of calories and include some protein and fat in your meals.

You know what else is usually really cheap? Dry rice and beans. Other really cheap things include regular carrots in bags, frozen store-brand vegetables, peanuts, and bananas.

fiber one! purely 60 energy for a million/2 a cup...ok i be attentive to it relatively is purely a nil.5 cup regardless of the incontrovertible fact that it relatively is like 10 grams of fiber so it relatively is relatively filling additionally throw like a banana in there or a strawberry and you're set! and that i think of it tastes quite sturdy as properly. eat up!

they're just empty calories and usually high in sugar WHICH is stored in the body as fat (remember 'fat' in food is used up as energy and stored in the right places i.e brain, organs) whereas sugar is what causes ppl to become overweight....but a good organic cereal is fine for you

Anything with sugar will be fattening. Also, if you are not eating a balanced diet, you will make yourself sick through malnourishment.

I HAVE SEEN A COMMERCIAL FOR SPECIAL K CEREAL, THAT SAYS YOU CAN EAT CEREAL IN PLACE OF TWO MEALS, BUT YOU HAVE TO EAT ONE BALANCED MEAL A DAY. I THINK AS LONG AS YOU USE SUPPLEMENTS TO REPLACE ANY MISSED VITAMINES YOU SHOULD BE ALRIGHT. GOOD LUCK
