I know this sounds funny, but a lil bit of lotion (I use vaseline intensive care cocoa butter lotion) put in like mousse, when the hair is still wet and brush in the direction you want it to go, then after drying, style however you like with your hands, not a brush. I have that haircut and it gives me the messy, next day hair look that I like. Also, when you need to slick it, comb it how you want it and then smoothe down the comb lines with your hands.

Redken Redwind - molding putty w/o crunchiness & Redken Wax add sheen, definition & a little goes a long way.

I liked Pantene's original pomade but it seems to have been re-formulated as Texturize Texture & Shine Defining Pomade. I haven't tried this new version but Pantene is so reasonably priced, it's worth a try.

Sometimes I just run a tiny drop of 100% jojoba oil through my hair for a little definition & shine. It's a good all day conditioner & washes out easily.

well, redken made a product called whipped graphic wax, but I think they discontinued it. but I think the ingredient in it that worked for that was beeswax, so maybe look for products that contain beeswax
