Yes you are correct. You would also have to consider the "Pearl of Great Price"? that has some pretty outlandish things that no sane Christian could ever claim harmonizes with the Bible. Mormons claim to follow the Bible as long as it doesn't contradict the Book of Mormon. Unfortunately for them, there was NO other Revelation given by Jesus Christ. Anyone who claims different is liable for judgment according to Galatians 1:6-9. I commend you on your research. myonesimus@yahoo.com

Your question doesn't make sense. The book of mormon does NOT contain most of the doctrine that the Mormon church teaches. So how is that different from the Rapture missing from the bible? So just like your Question about the Rapture, I could say to you "Where in the Book of Mormon does it teach about the Temple ceremonies?" The answer is, it doesn't. Those are supposedly revelations provided after the BOM was written. Personally I don't have a problem with the 'adding to the bible' thing, because I believe that the Bible is also created by man to provide and enforce social control. I believe that the Bible was actually written, but was added/deleted/edited as the 'powers that be' saw fit. Likewise, I believe the BOM was made up, but much of it based on the Bible. I also understand that the Rapture is a fairly new terminology - interestingly enough, came about and popularized around 1830 during the religious revivals of that time period. Coincidentally, this is the same timeframe that the Mormon church started. I'd guess that Joseph Smith avoided this term in his religion as to not conform with other churches.

Well, I am no longer a Mormon, but perhaps I will do for now. The Book of Mormon is not a testament of another Jesus Christ; but, rather another testament of Jesus Christ. Do you believe that everything that Jesus ever did on earth was actually written in our Bible?
How do you explain the American Indian having knowledge of Noah and the Ark? Revelation states that not one jot or tittle shall be added to the Bible, yet we know it was not the last book to be written.
I must believe that your intentions are good here. In that case do not try to cause anger, instead turn away wrath. If you really want to understand what the Mormons believe call the local Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and ask to have missionaries come to your home for an honest open discussion.
I do not know what your faith is friend; but, that is what I would do if I were trying to learn more about it.
If we, as the body of Christ want a more peaceful world to live in we must set an example by peacefully living together here and now.
God bless you
When Jesus said, "It is finished.", He was speaking directly to His father in heaven, telling Him that the job of the earthly man of the Son of God was completed. Continue your study in the New Testament and you will know that Jesus appeared to many others even speaking to them.
Oh, I am not your disciple.

Actually, it does not fall into YOUR INTERPRETATION of Galatians 1: 6-9, etc.
If you read ALL of Galatians, it is talking about the "gospel" of circumcision vs. uncircumcision, or the Law of Moses. Some of the apostles of Christ believed that all Gentiles who became Saints should follow the Law of Moses, starting with circumcision.
As for verse 8 of Galatians 1, the phrase "or even an angel fom heaven" is hyperbole, intentional exaggeration of Paul to show how important it was that the Law was fulfilled and circumcision was unnecessary.
As for 2 Corinthians, it is, again, your interpretation that we follow a "different Jesus". Just because we view Jesus just a little differently than you do, does not mean we are wrong. Of course, that means how WE view Him, and NOT how anti-Mormons SAY we view Him.
If you read the Book of Mormon, carefully and prayerfully, you will see taht it does NOT contradict the Bible, that it IS another testament of Jesus Christ.
In the mouths of two or more witnesses...
edit: I said nothing about Jeff Lindsay. Besides, he is one very smart person and knows a lot about the church.
I know I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but do give me SOME credit.

How does it contradict it? Different times call for different commandments. We don't follow the mosaic law anymore, yet it remains in the bible.
Our apostles don't seek for the praises of man. You'll never meet a more humble group than them. And we believe that our second testament of Jesus Christ came also from angels and prophets. Have you read more than the front cover of the Book of Mormon?
[Edit] viksikix, you forget that Deuteronomy 4:2-3 contains the same basic message, and Revelation was put at the last because of its size, not because of chronology. Furthermore, the Bible was not compiled into a single book when Revelation was written, so the author (was it John?) was likely referring to the book of Revelation, and not to the bible as a whole.
That's what I believe. Please check my information before condemning it.
[Edit] Is that all that broke your 40 years of membership? How sad.

Others have answer you well, all i have is a comment.
So for 40 years, all you find is contradictions between the Bible and the Book of Mormon? How sad.
I have been a member for 35 years, I found there are agreements between the two rather than contradictions.

Book of Mormons should be read and discussed in order to outline any faults that may have occurred during the writing, it is similar to the KJV bible in some ways.

Well first that was Paul talking to the Galatians...and isn't it funny how Pauline Christianity is completely different than the early Church and the Gnostics?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pauline_Christianity
Maybe Paul just wanted HIS Christianity to be the only one?

I agree with alwaysabridesmaid...you can't claim something contradicts the bible, or any religion, without knowing what it teaches.

The bible says:
Deuteronomy 4:2 "You shall not add to the word which I am commanding you, nor take away from it, that you may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.
Deuteronomy 12:32 "Whatever I command you, you shall be careful to do; you shall not add to nor take away from it.
Proverbs 30:6 Do not add to His words Or He will reprove you, and you will be proved a liar.
Revelation 22:7 "And behold, I am coming quickly. Blessed is he who heeds the words of the prophecy of this book." (NASB ©1995)
Revelation 22:18 I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues which are written in this book;
But...you have free will and can believe what you want. It is not for me to say where or how...just that you will have to answer for yoru actions to God someday.
These are my opinions and beliefs. I allow you to have yours, please allow me to have mine.
Let the thumbs down begin!
