It really depends on the guy. I was 15 and my boyfriend was 19 during my first relationship. He was very sweet and caring and he never even suggested to do things he knew I wasn't ready for yet. He was my first love and I have many good memories, so if the case is similar and they really love each other, my suggestion is they shouldn't avoid this relationship opportunity, because it will help them grow as individuals, learn new things from each other and possibly leave many pleasant memories behind. But the girl should really be careful and think, how well does she know him? If he's only after sex, then of course she should avoid going out with him.

I would be worried and wondering what was wrong with this guy. What does a 19 year old guy have in common with a 14 year old girl? Answer nothing.
There is no way I would allow it if either of them were my child.

Dear Lexie, The age difference is not a problem. The problem is that you are 14 yrs. old. That makes it a legal problem that could put him in jail. Wait until your 18 and he will be 25 then there will be no problems. But right now your just asking for big trouble. Be smart and wait. If he doesn't want to wait , then he doesn't care about you in the way he should.

The standard creepiness rule: Age / 2 + 7. Doesn't fit.
Though 5 years doesn't seem like a lot, it is in terms of experience. When you're 19, you'll realize how huge of a difference this is. He'll most definitely want intimacy, and despite whether or not you consent, it's statutory RAPE.
Ask him why he isn't able to get a girlfriend closer to his age. Certainly is an interesting question, isn't it?
This is something you need to watch if you're considering dating an older man: http://midwestteensexshow.com/?p=14

I feel that this age difference is way to much for a successful relationship. This could be potentially illegal, depending on the state that you are in, and after a while you would probably want out of the coupling. Be careful, whatever your actions. This person is okay to like, as long as you do not cross the line in any way, and with some people, even expressing your crush can be over the line.
Take care.

First off it's illegal. He can be convicted as a child molester and wear that badge for the rest of his life. This is one of the things on your permanent record that will follow you.
The maturity level between those two ages is huge. So what is the attraction from the 19 year olds perspective? He should be hanging with college girls, not 8th graders.

There's nothing wrong with that, I'm 19, my boyfriend's 23, 4 year difference and yet we've been together for more than a year now.
It doesn't depend on age, it's the maturity and sacrifices you both know you'll have to do in order to maintain your relationship.
Besides, girls often seek for mature guys for security and believes that a mature guy would never be as narrow minded as she thinks of the guys in her age group.

for now this is too large of an age gap, but when the 14 year-old is 34 and 19 year-old 39 and older it won't matter as much. but for now no,not good. i mean its like a 5th grader saying 'hey look im going to go out with that kindergartener'
