I have a girl, that, I looked at her a few times and smiled. I also got her and her friends papers for them in class. She knows that I know her name and have interest in her.
Yet she looks at me, then when I try to look back at her and at least smile, she looks away right away. Then I noticed if I do not look at her while she is looking, she keeps the look longer.
Why does she look away, if she can tell, I've seen her anyway? Why would she try to be so hidden, and not even let me at least smile at her or something?
Is she showing a sign of attraction or is it actually the complete opposite?

Well she looked for 2 days before I got her papers for her, so I don't think her papers are the thing.
She doesn't look at me anything nasty or anything, she actually looks like, "I really want him" or like a sad/bored look, like, I want to go hang out with him.

Are notes really horrible in college?
I wanted to get her laughing a tad and give her a funny poem, then ask her to chat after class, hoping that she isn't in a rush to leave?

girls get embarrassed when asking a guy out or them asking her out in person. so 2 prevent that they dont look when your looking because when they do look at you they look at you with the "he's SOOOOOOOO dreamy" look. if you like her enough ask her out by email, calling, texting, or a note (absalutely NO rhyming it may be romantic but is deffinately creepy!)

Sometimes a lady will look at a guy who she is attracted to. She likes to look at him while he is not aware. She is checking him out .. watching his movements, habits, etc. This sight is pleasing to her. But!! .. when HE sees her lookng at him .. she does not want him to know that she has been completely starring at him when he is not aware .. she does not want to be uncool .. so she looks away .. kinda like she had only looked at him for a second, and not the long time she really had been looking at him. Since the girl is interested in him, this could be an invitation for the guy to take the initiative and make the first move on her . Most girls wants the guy to make the first move .. it is an age old thing.
Also, the girl could be extremely shy .. (or not).
Then! .. the other scenerio is when a girl looks at a guy that she is NOT interested in .. she could be looking for many different reasons. When she is caught looking, by the guy, who she has NO interest in .. she will quickly look away .. sometimes for the reason of not wanting him to start a conversation with her .. and so he won't get the wrong idea .. because she wants nothing more than to stare at him, for her own reasons.
I do wonder ... what kind of "look" does she keep longer - which you speak of above?
Could she be looking at you because she needs, or wants, you to get her more papers? Be careful of being used for your papers.
You could simply try approaching her .. and try talking with her .. if she responds .. then maybe try a phone call .. and so forth. If she does not respond to wanting to talk to you, you might consider this as a 'red flag' that she is not being friendly.

They look away because they've been told that staring is rude.
People in a museum will stare at a beautiful painting. They will also stare at modern art, trying to figure out what it means. And they stare at a traffic accident in the southbound Interstate when they pass it in the northbound lanes.
If you want to know if she's interested in dating you, go up to her and ask, "Hi. My name is XYZ, but you already know that, just as I know your name is ABC. I think I'd like to know you better. May I ask you out sometime?"
Pretty simple, don't you think? You're not asking her out now. You're not asking whether she's busy on Saturday, nor asking whether she's seen "3:10 to Yuma". You're saying, "are you available and interested." Maybe she has a regular boyfriend already. Maybe she thinks you're a train wreck. Doesn't make any difference. She's either interested in being asked out, or she isn't.
And the only way to find out, is to ask her. As Yogi Berra said, "You can see a lot just by observing." And you can learn a lot by asking.

It is a sign of attraction. I'm guessing you are younger or at your early teens. Girls feel embarassed when you look back at then and they dont want to be seen looking. That does not mean she is not attracted, but rather the opposite and to avoid awkwardness. Girls have pride and like to play hard to get or she simply might be shy/insecure. If she has seen you look at her and she catches you smiling you should initiate conversation already. Don't wait or hesitate too long or you give her time to assume many things. Good luck, kiddo.

Women like to check out blokes. Basically, it's a perve.
It's also a form of body language to tell you they are interested yet want you to make the 1st move.
Sadly, most men don't and women are afraid of rejection. Works vice versa too but cant confirm cause i'm not a male.

She probably just wants to stare at you because you're so cute, but she can't if you're looking at her. It's just really awkward. That's why she looks away. How would you feel if you were in that position? You'd probably look away, too.
And...yes...that shows a sign of attraction.

She is playing the shy game. It is your duty as the male to take charge. She does not want to me the one to initiate contact or any of it. If your the type to sit back and wait for a girl to make your day, its not gonna happen. If she let you see her looking at you at all, that is your sign to engage in polite and descent conversation. You could ask her to dinner or whatever. If she shoots you down, no problem, you don't have a question then.
Women take mind pictures of men, you only see them look when they want you too.

It is a sign of attraction. What she is doing is checking you out my friend. Just go along with it. She sounds a little shy so why not try to start a conversation with her and see how far that goes.

Yes that is most likely a sign of attraction and that is the normal pattern of eye contact flirtation. Holding the gaze is considered extremely forward and bold. Why don't you talk to her?

She's just checking you out, she may be a people watcher... most people just like to watch others and get shy when caught. I say make her feel awkward and say hi, just like she's making you feel awkward.
