Your eyelids help block things from getting into the eye, and you have a reflex to close your eye if things come near them. Also, your eyelashes can collect little things before they get to your eye.

The eye lid, eye fluid and eye lashes all work together to keep your eye safe. If you get something in your eye, don't rub the eye. You may lightly rub the other eye causing both eyes to water and wash out matter. Best prevention!!!! Wash your hands after touching soiled objects (not dirt you see but germs not visible to the naked eye0. Don't touch your eyes with hands or Kleenex or any other item that may have come in contact with your mouth or nose. WASH HAND!!!!!!!!!1
