...I mainly use my automobile's ('99 Toyota Camry) cassette deck for the cassette adapter that came with my XM radio kit. When I insert the cassette adapter, it keeps ejecting. The deck will go into play mode for a second, then go into reverse play mode for a second, then eject the cassette. This happens with regular cassettes as well. I've tried other cassette adapters, and the same thing happens. Any ideas as to what might be causing the problem, and how it can be fixed?

Thanks.

ya i had this problem with my sony tape deck after a couple of years. One of the bands in the deck that chose witch direction to go based on the resistance either snapped or is stuck. If you are just interested in using the adapter, just take the adapter apart there should be 4 - 8 small screws holding it together. Take out the little notched pieces that turn the tape reels in a normal tape. The adapter doesn't need them, because there is nothing being turned. If you dont want to take it apart you can just cut the teeth off with a sharp knife and you will achieve the same thing. without any resistance on the direction control it should work if it doesnt than it is something stuck inside your tape deck and you will need to take it apart to get it functioning again.
