Are sensor lights (as I have posted a picture here: http://weblog.xanga.com/yahooanswerspicture/621537678/sensor-lights-and-energy-efficiency.html ) energy efficient. I mean they are on 'standby' all day until it is dark enough for them to start sensing. Does it use a lot of power all day long being on or would it be worth while turning them off at the switch during the day?

Stand- by doesn't mean they are getting any current (which is what you pay for).

Stand-by turns the sensor completely off during daylight, as it would not work anyway.

Think of Stand-By as you standing next to the switch, ready to turn it on if you see something.

I suppose they could be pretty inefficient, but there is no good reason for this to be the case.
