Most Undrated driver has to be Clint Bowyer. This guy is a rocket and it seems like the smiling faces down at ESPN dont have a damn clue. Listen to the commercials "Can Jeff Gordon fend off Jimmie Johnson and Tony Stewart?" Um, excuse me!! Clint was beating Tony before Charlotte (though I'm not sure how he stands now.) Either way Clint is a top competitor and just may take this championship.

Most Overated driver...hmm. its tough. You have to seperate the BAD drivers from the BAD drivers who people think are GOOD. I would say its a tie between Dale Jr. and Juan Pablo Montoya. First the Columbian, sure he did the F1, sure he won the Indy 500. Big whoop, have you seen him lately? No his car doesnt shoot flames, that's just him catching on fire. This "Hot Prospect" of a driver has had 1, count 'em, ONE victory this year, and it was a road course so go figure. Forget that he sucks at driving. Forget that he manages to take one or two cars down with him every race. The media can't get enough of him!! Luckily Franchitti and Villenueve will steal his spotlight next year.
And now to Jr. Oh boy. The "Son of Dale" is here, there, he's everywhere...except the finish line. Six DNFs!! SIX!! And thats current as of NOW. Who knows how the fantabulous motors of DEI/RCR will hold up in the Chase? My point is people seem to sway on Jr. He's in trouble yada yada yada OH MY GOD HE's LEADING, HE COULD WI...oh no somebody passed him. "His famous father"s son is not hot and who knows if he will be next year. He needs to pull out some serious skillz in the Hendrick garage, because Kyle Busch has some pretty impressive shoes to fill.

Awesome question. Loved the answers. Especially those who think JG is overrated. Crap, I'd HATE to see UNDERrated....

Anyway, My picks:

Over rated: Montoya and Jr. I saw JR Begrudgingly because he has had some bad engines and bad luck and for him to come out week after week under a microscope and still race hard is pretty amazing. The boy has had a lot of scrutiny this year and still typically shows class. And Kyle Busch. I could go on forever but Im not...lol

Underrated: Have to say that until this last month, Clint Boyer. Then again, he is like the Anti-Jr. He coasted in under the radar for most of the year. Nice and steady.

Okay, anyone who says that Jeff Gordon is overrated obviously has never glanced at his stats. He has 4 championships, well on his way to a fifth, and 81 wins counting this past weekend. Not to mention he just won twice in a row. What does he have to do to not be overrated, win EVERY week?

Overrated: Dale Earnhardt Jr. He just isn't good. Yet NASCAR keeps finding new ways to kiss up to him every week. It's sickening.

Underrated: Clint Bowyer suddenly popped out of nowhere to contend for the championship. He probably missed his camera time while they were getting more shots of the 8 car.

I believe Overrated has to go Dale Jr! I know he's has had bad luck this year. But it's been more than a year since a win and he still get the attention.

Underrated goes to Casey Mears. It's tough to get attention when your teammates are Jeff Gordan,Jimmie Johnson and Kyle Bush who have won a lot of races and are in the Chase. He won the Coke Cola 600 and he's been up front.

No. because you by no potential rather affiliate any of them with triumphing. Neil became into the comeback driving force. Bodine became into the undesirable guy. Gant became into the only complicated the greater youthful weapons a million/2 his age. Gant wasn't puffed up because of the fact he did plenty previous his best. i think of Sterling Marlon became right into a greater useful driving force than Jr. ever would be, yet he's even decrease on the record. once you notice a NASCAR advert someplace, Jr. constantly seems to be between the choose few or the only one in it. Bonnett, Bodine, and Gant have been by no potential attendance drawers for NASCAR events. yet whilst Jr stopped applying right this moment, you could guess NASCAR could be in much greater difficulty in terms of cost ticket sales.

Overrated: Dale Jr., Jimmie Johnson
Underrated: Jeff Burton, Bobby Labonte

I don't dislike Junior, and hope he does well at Hendrick. So far, though, he has yet to justify all the attention he gets.

Yes, I realize JJ has a championship. I just think he's a good driver with an excellent team. Others could do as well in the #48 with Knaus tuning.

Anybody that calls a NASCAR champion over rated isn't a true racing fan.

Over rated....I'd have to say Kasey Kahne and Ryan Newman. Neither have done much of anything since their fluke seasons.

Under rated....right now I'd still say Clint Bowyer. The guy seems to be for real, but isn't getting the respect he deserves yet. He need a couple of more good seasons to insure he doesn't end up like the above two drivers.
