The best thing to do in any situation like this is to research. Find out exactly what it is, the pros and cons, what others think about it both inside and outside the community. Make sure it's really what ou think it is and not something else.
Ultimately, it's up to you to decide what being a psi-vamp means. It's certainly not always a bad thing, but there will always be people who truely think it is, either because they don't actually understand or because it goes against their set of ethics. Psychic vampirism can be a wonderful thing, benifical to both the vampire and his/her donor. It can also be a terrible thing if misused. The people who misuse it, for whatever reason, are the people self-defense books are written about.
Personally, I think the psychic vampirism is a wonderful thing if used correctly. It comes with its cons, yes, but the energy-work possiblities are a definite pro.
Anyway, I wish you luck, and I hope you find a few more people who are understanding along the way.

Psi vamps are just people who are stealing energy, they are actually lost healers. People born as healers who never learn how to give and take energy correctly. They get lost in folklore about real vampires-who need to survive on others life force, however that's a huge misconception that makes them even more lost. Stealing energy is really abd for the karma.
I would reccomend a psi vamp learn to comtrol their energy, and they can research Reiki healing, Chakras, and how to control it. Then they can choose to help people if they want.
