Just a form of mind-control by the laws and government over a chaotic world?
Would you trust something recommended by the government, the same CORRUPT government that brought us war, poverty, non-free health care, Bush, bad education laws, slavery, and racism?

Yep, it's a religion that uses fear of damnation in order to control people.

Q: Was the Bible just a form of mind-control by the laws and government over a chaotic world?
A: No. It was just a set of laws and beliefs among a tribe of semi-savages.
Q: Would you trust something recommended by the government, the same CORRUPT government that brought us war, poverty, non-free health care, Bush, bad education laws, slavery, and racism?
A: No. The government and people you mention are just governing bodies and laws ruling a population of semi-savages.

No. The Bible was written over a 2000 year period by over 40 different authors on 3 continents. Most did not know each other yet they all agree on the nature and purpose of God.That is one in a trillion chance for that to happen.
Have Govts used the Bible to their ends.Sure,as did the Catholic Church from 300 A.D. until the Reformation and even much longer than that.Even today ,especially in Central and South America the Communists preach a "Social Gospel" using strands of the Bible to promote their agendas.Forget about Bush .He is a light weight as a right wing Christian as Carter is a left wing Christian. Both are going to have a lot to answer for.

The Bible has never been written by a government. When the New Testament was written the Christians were outcasts, and the government was killing them. Most of the Old Testament the Jews are in captivity, or under one attack or another..Prophets were killed by the kings. The Dead Sea Scrolls were found because they were hid because the people were about to all be killed.. So the answer to your question is NO.

The Bible is Gods Holy Word. If there is no God, why is it the whole world stands still when this little country the size of Rhode Island speaks, they call it Isreal? Why are the Jewish people so hated world wide? Make no mistake about it, the Bible is real, and Jesus was a Jew. The only way to Heaven is thru Jesus Christ, he died for my sins and yours. We are all sinners. Sin seperates us from God. Only the sheding of blood washes away sin. Jesus died on the cross and washed away our sins forever. All we have to do is believe. All we have to do is accept by faith the free gift of salvation, just say this simple sinners Prayer and you can start a new life in Christ Jesus. Just say, Dear Jesus, I know and confess that I am sinner in need of salvation. I believe you died on a cross at calvery and arose from the grave to wash away my sins, I ask you right now to come into my heart and save me, I pray this Prayer believing in the name of Jesus Amen. If you prayed this prayer with a sincere heart you are now a child of God, rejoice that your name is written in the Lambs book of Life. Jesus will now send his Holy Spirit to come and live in your heart and guide you into all truth. If you have any questions just send me an email, God Bless YOU!!

It's a good book if you don't take it literally. I have learned alot from Jesus, but at the same time, the book WAS written by a man decades later. Hell, I can't even remember what I said 2 days ago word for word.

Are you finished ranting now? The bible is a book, it is not a form of mind control. It has nothing to do with government. The mess our government is in today was caused by man,(namely the idiots who elected them) not God. Why is that so tough to understand?

Lots of answers to this question. Problem is, few if any respondents seem to have read the book. Making dumn comments without knowledge of the subject is totally ignorant.

The bible was a last ditch attempt by the roman empire to stop Christianity and turn it into something the empire could control.
Sadly it worked.

The scriptures (Bible) are the testimony of God's work in Christ Jesus our Lord for the redemption of fallen sinners.
Man was given a choice and chose disobedience to God. But God who is rich in mercy and Grace gave a promise starting in Gen 3:15, that through the promised seed (Christ) He would redeem man.
Through the one man's sin all died but through the one man's act of righteousness the many (those having faith) shall live.
Christ has given you this promise. What will you do with it? If you are self confident that you need not this promise, having all you need, you will trample on it. If you see yourself a sinner, spiritually lame, deaf, blind, you will cling to this word to you! And that Word is Christ has taken your sin upon Himself on the cross and has given you His righteousness as a free gift. If salvation were your choice you would still choose wrong as I would too. God choose us in Christ! Christ chooses those who would have otherwise rejected Him.
The rod of God's judgment is the gospel itself. The one accepting this gift given are the sheep of God and those not willing to pass under this rod are the goats that are spoken of in Mt. 25. Not because there works were not as good but because they rejected the "Blessing" who is Christ given for the sinner.
