I am Anishnabe, Native American, Indian, whatever. Why do you use my people for your arguments? We don't like it. We live for peace and harmony. We obey the laws of the land. We have come up from the ashes. Do not use us in your arguments.

We have learned to get along. We forget the past. Many here do not. We do not own this land. We don't tell Europeans to leave as many say here.

some mistake my words. I ask pro people not to use us. We have survived and we love our land. We love our brothers here. Legally.

People use whatever they think will influence others. I have to agree with you, however, that it really sucks when your people are the ones being used.

Migwetch (Thank you) for speaking out. It does get old, tiring and redundant doesn't it?

Too bad some pros will not listen to you regarding using our American Indians Heritage for their arguments. Or feel the same way as you, and I about this situation regarding illegals being in our country, and disregarding almost every law on the books that pertain to them. Not to mention the illegals from the south border out of Mexico who think that land can be owned. Especially by them.

Some pro agencies, and Mexico's current President Caulderon and former President Vincente Fox as well as the likes of MeChA movement groups, have been teaching and encouraging such practice and tactics to confuse Native American Indians history. To blend it with their own. Therefore illegals will use whatever has been tried in the past to supersede US Immigration laws. And claiming to be of Native American Indian Heritage and Blood lines, instead of what they truly are Mexican Indian Heritage and Bloodlines. Mayan Indians and Spaniards Bloodlines to be exact. By claiming this is the same as Native American Indian Bloodlines is how they are now trying to go about being considered legal or legitimate entities (tribes) of the US. Which we know is bogus.

I am one that has compared Native American strife to that of Mexican immigration. I am Mexican part Aztec. And I apologize. However, maybe you have never felt the discrimination the way we do. Hatred for Mexicans is so prevalent.
I am glad you have forgiven and moved on. I live in Arizona where there are an abundance of native people. I have been on the 'reservations'. The poverty, the lack of jobs, the lack of good education, the crime. You have a beautiful heritage, I have many native friends, but most have not come up from the ashes as you so say. I have discussed this with many of my friends and they see their people lost and their culture disappearing. Young ones no longer value the traditions that made you great. I have read many books on natives, history, lifestyles. My favorite artist is RC Gorman. I value the contribution your people have contributed, but I also see the down side.
I am not for discrimination of any person. And when I feel it for a friend, relative, countryman or myself, it angers me. Your forefathers were angry and fought for what was rightfully theirs. If God or Your Great Spirit were here, would he treat human beings the way we treat eachother?

What ever makes you think they are taking YOUR heritage? The Americas were invaded by the Europeans from the tip of Canada to the tip of Chile and Argentina and I doubt all of the natives were fine with that as you now say. The argument stands. "invaders" people from all over the world come and go through the ages and places. First came the Europeans, now come the Hispanics and the Asians and others, this country was and IS made by immigrants that's the argument. Native Americans then must not have liked it as much as the people now here don't like it either.

I recall an answer of yours in that Del Monte question...you said too bad for Del Monte and they knew the rules (not quoting but something along those lines and I'm not going to go look for it) Well, immigrants know the rules too and when a person chooses not to bother with those rules and to be illegal, that puts a real damper on people getting along, don't you think? Too bad illegals, just like too bad Del Monte. Rules and laws are exactly that. I don't use you in any argument but I've read many where illegals have. Further, I refuse to keep shouldering blame for 1) What the Spaniards first did and 2) The destruction of Indians thereafter. Telling me to go back to Europe or even thinking you can do such a thing is absolutely preposterous. That in itself, is another line of argument that needs to stop too.

Anyone that uses Native Americans as an excuse for why they support illegal immigration is an idiot. It doesn't make any sense. It's like when people chant "We didn't cross the border, the border crossed us."

illegals use a lot of hot button topics and words because they will use whatever they think will accomplish their agenda which is amnesty and the taking of america by occupancy and squatting. they use their children too. so they are above nothing. to illegals and pro illegals the end justifies the means! i am anishinabe too.

i totally agree with you girl. its a slap in the face to people of such a cool heritage. im glad you realize what happended b4 is in the past...but is it just so convenient for the pro-illegals to "not let go of the past".

It's not just Native Americans that are being used. Illegals even have the nerve to compare their demand for rights to the civil rights movement for racial equality. Illegal is not a race. To answer your question though, they'll use whatever is handy to try to justify illegal entry.

because they feel that they can just like anyone else would and illegals are not the only one remeber that.
