EOS is the SLR(Single lens reflect) camera which you can change the lens. This series is for semi-professional & professional.

PowerShot (not powerpoint) is Point-&-Shoot camera which easy to use & cheaper camera.

If you are newbie and just want to fun with taking photo without learning photography technique, the PowerShot is right for you.

see some popular powershot here.

Actually it is a Powershot- The EOS cameras are SLRs that accept interchangeable lenses and are larger and more capable. The Powershots are a line of point and shoot compact cameras.
