In a world where the cliche "chivalry is dead" is pretty much true, it's so nice and usually catches a woman off guard to find a man who still believes in doing the little things like that to show he's a gentleman. Opening doors, car doors, etc. seem to be things men dont often think or care about anymore. Treat your lady like gold and you'll get the same in return. This wouldn't offend any woman I know.

I'd love it. Why would anyone be offended? Who likes a door in the face? And who wants to open some of those heavy doors? But, of course, I don't stand there until he does; I may spend a lot of time waiting. And I don't judge, because believe me, I've made mistakes, too. If it something I need, though, I ask. My husband doesn't open my door, but when I do feel like being nurtured, I ask, and he sweetly does it. Just as I cater to something he may want every now and then. 50 years ago it was "the thing" to do but times have changed, as have women. Some do find it offensive, but that is their thing. No problem. Different strokes for different folks, huh? Have a good day.

Depends on the occasion and the gent. If your on on a nice date, open the door. If your not going to the best place in town, the lady will probably get her own door.

My wife enjoys it. It's a sign of courtesy, not power. Have an attitude of being courteous, open the door for others who are around at the time you are also passing through. Meanwhile, treat her as a capable, amazing person.
I think the overall attitude of the man can color a thing like opening a door for a woman. So, it all depends on how you do it, and how you treat her in other situations.

I'm always happy when a guy opens a door, it's only manners and what is expected.
I don't get these people who are offended. It's because they feel they have to acknowledge another human being and it's just an inconvenience for them to have to do so. Independence has nothing to do with it. That's just an unsociable sour puss and I guess misery really tends to prefer their OWN company.

Men open doors for me all the time. Even strangers. They let me go ahead of them in line also. I don't get offended. Why would a woman get offended? She probably has gone to too many macho girl parties.

I'm older, 57, and I LOVE it when ANYONE holds a door open for me, or opens a door for me. When my children were small, they all (even the girl) opened and held doors for adults ... and they actually frequently got paid (usually a quarter but occasionally a dollar) for it, but that is not why they did it. They did it because they LIKED doing something so simple for 'older' people ... but when you are a child, every adult is 'older' ... and now that they are all grown and having kids of their own, they still open doors for people, and are teaching their kids (who are girls, so far) to do so.

Frankly, I expect it. I am not offended if a man does not open the door for me, but at the same time, I am not interested either.
