You write about Pangea. Shallower seas and one large land mass provided the physical geography to trap and keep heat from the sun.
Environmental alarmists have no clue about this. Al Gore flies private jets but wants us to take buses everywhere. This is all about power. Al Gore wants power and fools want to give it to him.

It's just a new religion, and they literally would burn anyone at the stake for not bowing to their new god, it's everything Hitler or Stalin could only have dreamed of, getting everyone in the world scared into compliance without having to fire a shot. Funny how we hear big corporations are backing the skeptics but no one notices Gore or Soros making millions off the global warming scare. When people start getting their global warming taxes on everything and they have to choose between food, heat or lights, they may wish they followed the scientific method instead of mainstream media soundbites before deciding. If you carefully examine the last 40,000 years or more of earth climate, the "man made" global warming theory goes down the crapper. One volcano can exceed all human output, and yet the planet seems to balance itself back out, even if it does take longer than the average human life. It's a basic concept of whether or not you consider "man the measure of all things." I put my trust in geologic record. That said, human observation/culture such as Mayan, Aztec, Indus Valley, the ancient traditions of Ireland, Zoarestrian and other "primitive" cultures all put emphasis on astronomy/climatic events, so I believe they may have experienced and tried to predict future climate hardships, funny enough sunspot cycles/solar variations in distance and "wobble" of the earth could have been discovered thousands of years ago, and 2012 might be the proof for these ancient megalithic sites and calendars, (some propose gamma radiation bursts from space or astroid/comet/meteorite showers). Oh and the Storegga Slides triggering tsunami events is another interesting phenomenon related to global temperature spikes. And consider that must of modern man's existance was in ice age conditions, would you really like to "restore" earth to that climate?

If you have been watching the news, you would see that AL Gore has won the Nobel Prize for educating people on global warming.
This is the BIGGEST prize in the world and it went to him, so clearly he is not some idot that doesn't do what he preaches.
Al Gore buys carbon offsets when he flies airplanes. He is 100% carbon nutral. A carbon offset is a piece of land that you buy that has massive vegitation that takes CO2 out of the air and makes it into biomass. He is THE MOST ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY politician of all time.
Global warming is accepted fact by 70%+ americans and 99.9%+ of scientists (evolution and global warming are completely different). The CO2 levels today are shooting off the charts and are exactly where scientists have predicited. They will continue to rise and change the earth negativly. We may already be at the point of no return.
******************
The only reason why poeple would doubt global warming is because they don't know the facts. This if fine, but you should learn the facts. Don't listen to the morons that say global warming is nonsense because they have not done their homework. People say the holocaust didn't happen, popple believe we didn't go the moon, people will believe ANYTHING!!!!!!! If you do your homework you will se that global warming is completely accepted. It doesn't appear this way because the media has to report both sides of the story and "balence" it, but the issue is not balenced. A HUGE majority accet it to be happening.
*************************
I STRONGLY suggest watching AN INCONVINENT TRUTH, al gore's movie that won massive awards and is the most well known documentary of this century. (and ummm...THE NOBEL PRIZE!!!!!)
If you can't, then watch CNNs worldwide investingation called 'Planet in Peril,' which airs in the next few weeks. It will probably adress this issue and many others.
Hope this helped.

Global warming is real. At least I think it is. Who else here is noting that days keep getting warmer and Winter seems a bit shorter every year? Back when all the continents were together, they provided the proper enviornment for those kind of storms, but we have no excuse this time.

You are 100% correct in your thinking. It is going to happen however there is no point in running around crying about it. We will adapt the same way we have through other drastic climate changes.
I dont say it isn't real, however I dont believe it is cause for alarm and panic
Yes scientist worldwide agree that the planet is warming. However they do not all agree that this is not a natural cycle or that there is anything man can do to prevent it. Countless periods of warming and ice ages happened before man had any influence

Hi!! Taking action now indeed will make a change. Perhaps not in our life time, though.
Carbon emission plays a huge role in climate change. Why? Because CO2 and other greenhouse gases tent to trap energy the earth absorb from sum inside the atmosphere. They are like blanket. Reduce carbon emission (one of the ways to take care our environment) can prevent the situation getting worse.
You are right about such actions will do not much, but a little change today can have direct impact on to future generations.

Think of a vacuum cleaner sales man, sure he drags some overpriced super duper monster sucker in your house and shows you some charts and graphs. But if you want to know the real deal go to his house and look in his closet.
Check out the closet of algore and his acolytes.
Al Gore's admission in Grist Magazine that 'I believe it is appropriate to have an over-representation of factual presentations on how dangerous it [global warming] is."

The general consensus today is that human interaction with the earth have caused some deterioration of the ozone layer and also have caused carbon monoxide contamination of our atmosphere. This of course is said to cause a faster than normal warming of our planet.
You are right about the continents being one big mass of land millions of years ago and many ice ages and warming of the planet have happened before. What is going on right now is the speed of this process that is going at a much faster pace than ever before.
It took millions of years for the fossil fuels to be formed. We humans have used a great deal of all this fossil fuels in a little more than one hundred years. As a reminder, in the late 1800's majority of humans were still using horses as a mean of transportation. Compare today at what we use as a mean of transportation. Some experts believe that at the pace we are using petroleum today we wouldn't have enought for our daily lives in less than a century.
Global warming is not something that will happen overnight if that is what you think. A natural cycle that take thousands of years to occur, we humans have accelerated this process to happen in a few hundred years. Maybe in our lifetime ( and this is in big question mark) we may not see any drastic effect, but you have to think about your kids and what you will leave for them to live with.

Global warming is, indeed, a cyclical event that takes place over tens of thousands of years.
The issue is that mankind's Industrial Revolution of these past 150 years has helped to 'speed up' the process, which doesn't allow time for man, plants and animals to adapt to climate changes and environmental conditions.
Because of our smoke belching factories, massive vehicle emissions, air and water pollution, and total disregard for the sanctity of all creatures on Earth, we have destroyed the natural order of things.
And while we may not think that the loss of polar bears, rain forests, remote Eskimo tribes, exotic Brazilian frogs, elephants, ocean life, polar ice caps, mangrove forests, caribou, rare insects from the Amazon, clean air, fresh water, or great grey whales have any affect on our lives, we're dead wrong. Literally DEAD wrong. -RKO- 10/14/07
