I don't believe so.

If this is truely bothering you, unlike some, I do care if it does, if it's truely bothering you, sit back and take a look at things.

Nothing is matching up to the prophecies, nothing, if civilization was going to end, it would have happened already.

It takes years for a mass extinction to occur, and sweety, it hasn't been long enough.

2012 is just another year, nothing more, nothing less.

Also, sit back and think, the world leaders know things we couldn't even comprehend, if this was going to happen, we would notice changes, they would be working on technology that could block radiation on a global scale, or blocking a gamma-ray burst, or preparing for the shifting of the axis.

There are dates, remember this, there are dates for sports events set for 2013 and 2014, there are science dates set for years way after 2012.

The government is looking forward to having flying cars by the year 2015, why would they go through all of this if 2012 was true?

Sweety, simply put, nothing adds up, not even the predictions add up, my daughter had a similar fear and it took me forever to get her to realize that everything is ok, nothing will happen, I promise.

I don't break my promises, remember that, everything will be fine, nothing's going to happen, there's been way too many false alarms, there's been way too many false predictions.

If you need someone to talk to, your more than welcome to pm me in Yahoo! Messenger under the name x0xfr3nzyx0x

Remember, don't worry about it, alright?

Well, the Bible does say that no one knows the day or the hour of Christ's return, but it doesn't say "year".
I guess no one will really know until it happens. 2012 had actually popped into my head as a possibility before I had ever heard that anyone else thought the same. I think it is only because in the bible, certain numbers are significant to God: 1, 3, 4, 7, 12, 40 and 70. Well, we know the world didn't end in 2007, so the next guess would be 2012. However, we must also keep in mind that there is probably a discrepancy in overlapping ages of the patriarchs when we determine the age of Creation. One must allow a few years for error. I don't really go by years when determining when Christ will come, but rather by events that are occurring. Jesus said that "when you see all these things come to pass, then you will know the time is near." Just like when we see the buds blooming on the tree, we know that summer is near.

Well
they have predicted
all the eclipses and wars and twin towers
if not its the end of the world it will be a change
as these religions and such say
nasa:polar shift going to cause eathquakes hurricanes and such and the north pole will be the south

mayans:the end of the world or if not something that will change the world making society more peaceful

religion:end of the world amargedon

there was also more saying that aliens will come and attack or we will have contact with them
also astreoid going to hit earth

theres alot of estimates on what is going to happen
but most of them are all looking down
so im guessing you should look more into it to know more

correct me and sorry if im a wrong with any of that but i am really facsinated with 2012 and have looked into it heaps
so no there isnt any truth theres a just predictions

i hoped i help in anyway

have a good day.

Certainly not. The 2012 claptrap is a long, long way from a viable theory. I'm 64 and every year since I was old enough to pay attention to such nonsense one Christians fringe group or another has proclaimed that THIS year the world will REALLY end. As for Y2K, that had an actual basis in fact -- way over-hyped by the tabloids, but it was true that computer operating systems were unprepared to deal with the turn over of millennia. Of course, legions of software engineers dealt with the "problem" before Jan 31, 1999 and nothing much happened. I have no doubt, if the Mayans civilization still existed, they would generate the next iteration of their long-count calender and life would go on without a hitch. As you point out, like another Y2K.

Been watching the history channel lately? LOL! The Mayans aren't the only ones but according to the TV ancient Sumerians and a dozen other societies and people have also predicted this. It's really pretty boring. If it does happen, great! If not, oh well...

I personally hope it does happen and earth is destroyed. At least that way there won't be war, famine, and BS all over the world.

It's not neccesarily the end of the world. they simply meant there would be an enourmous change in the world. could be anything really. The discovery of aliens, the dethroning of a tyrant, WWIII. Though we won't know for sure until December 12, 2012. I will say this: the mayans also predicted their own downfall.

Judging by the global warming situation, I wouldn't be too surprised if the human race went extinct in 5 years - a combination of the climate changes themselves, new bacteria and viruses that will thrive in the heat, and wars which will no doubt break out when people realise how dire the situation is. If I survive that long, I'll be 33 - which isn't such a bad age to die, if you think about it... ;)

However, the "plane of the galaxy" and "mayan calendar" stuff is meaningless. Look here for an explanation:

There really is no way to know at this time. From what I understand, it's not going to be the "end of the world", just the end of the world as we know it.

Apparently, on December 21, 2012, the earth will be in exact alignment with the sun and a black hole in the Milky Way galaxy. Researchers are saying that the earth's axis will shift, possibly so much so that Alaska would be at the equator. This is going to cause major earthquakes, hurricanes, and dramatic climate changes. Coastal cities could end up underwater as glaciers melt and the sea level rises.

Not everyone will perish, but it probably won't be that much fun for the ones who survive.

This is a common misconception, The Mayan calendar ends in Dec 2012, but that doesn't mean the end of the world, there could be a lot of resons for this, but we will never know until the day comes.

We could not possibly be completely destroyed on a planetary scale even if that great big comet or that pandemic of deadly viral disease or that war of all wars were to happen right NOW- to "end the world" to me means all living organisms would have to be dead, with no one escaping because they were on the space station or something, either. I believe that the end of the world, once begun, will take hundreds of years to be a fulfilled prophecy; therefore, if the Mayans' prediction would have said from 2012-2112 or something I may have suspended my disbelief. As it stands, no.
