They are indeed the same God simply misunderstood and falsely characterized by unbelievers.

The 2 seem different not because they are different gods, but because they are different covenants. What did the old covenant promise? Gods blessing/protection physically. What did the new covenant promise? Spiritual grace and mercy!

For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. -John 1:17

Besides that, Jesus confirmed the law and the prophets! So they couldnt possibly be 2 separate gods. That simply isnt what Scripture teaches at all.

Is God evil for punishing sin physically? No. Were people punished old testament style in the NT? YES!!

4Didn't it belong to you before it was sold? And after it was sold, wasn't the money at your disposal? What made you think of doing such a thing? You have not lied to men but to God." 5When Ananias heard this, he fell down and died. And great fear seized all who heard what had happened. -Acts 5:4

Immediately, because Herod did not give praise to God, an angel of the Lord struck him down, and he was eaten by worms and died. -Acts 12:23

How about in Revelation when hes going to pour out the bowls of wrath on the earth? Is that loving and fuzzy? How about hell?

Many people just dont understand Scripture from the loud mouth blasphemer that says God is evil from the OT, to the peacenik hippie that says the NT is all about love and peace. God is who he is. Scripture accurately reveals him yet only true believers have faith enough to read and truly understand who God is and what hes going to do.

That question is an oxymoron, because they are one in the same! Jesus said he was the fulfillment of the OT law, and throughout the OT, the scarlet thread is shown how God would come incarnate as a person, to be the sacrificial offering for the sinfulness of the human race.

People who have not completely studied the Bible see the God of the OT as some ruthless emperor who is ready to chastise the human race, and the God of the NT as some loving grandfather who is willing to take everyone into his arms and forget everything. Both are incorrect views of the One and Only God who is the God of both! God is Holy and just, but also loving and merciful. The qualifier is that, to obtain his mercy, man must do so on his terms, and that is through the cross of Christ.

I prefer the God of the New Testament (of course, they're both the same), but not because I like Him, but because I dislike the Old Testament God. The Old Testament portrays a very undiety-like God- gets angry over things he really should've seen coming (he's omnipotent, no?)

(I almost feel sacriligece (sp?) saying that, but that's how I feel)

He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. The old testament is the foundation on which the new testament stands. One cannot exist without the other. Prophesies in the book of Revelation need the book of Daniel to be interpreted. A Bible should never be divided; its pages should never be ignored. The Bible is a manual inspired by God which helps us achieve immortality, gives us comfort in time of need and peace in time of sadness.
-The old covenant- the commandments written in stone
-The new covenant- the Law is kept in our hearts. The same 10 commandments
-Ceremonial law was written by the finger of Moses
-Moral law written by the finger of God & written in stone. The 10 commandments were reaffirmed in the new testament.
The Bible is a testimony of God's love, sacrifice and compassion for humanity.

God is.

That is like me asking you if you like your friends today better than yesterday. We may not like the actions they make, but we still like the people, usually.

The old and new testament are just different sides of the same God, everyone will have a different opinion of how God acts to situations, some may see God as spiteful, others as parental and still others as aloof.

The Old Testament sees God as an invisible man -- living in the sky -- who watches everything you do, every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do. And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place, full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish, where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and ever 'til the end of time! But He loves you.

New Testament, Jesus Died For Our Sins.

I'm not going to let him die in vain.

Well God's a lot more interesting in the Old Testament, you know floods, plagues and all that. Supposedly it's the same God but I'm an atheist anyway.

Contrary to some modern church teachings the God of the OT is the same God of the NT.

Malachi 3:6 For I am the LORD, I change not;

Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

It is the same God. The only difference is that in the old testament people lived by the law and now we live by grace. Jesus came and was the sacrifice over sin. He was our pure sacrifice and those who have accepted Him are washed by the blood. Isn't it GREAT!!!

Matthew 5:

17"Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill.

18"For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke shall pass from the Law until all is accomplished.

19"Whoever then annuls one of the least of these commandments, and teaches others to do the same, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever keeps and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

20"For I say to you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven.

I enjoy the Old Testament full of history, tradition and prophecy and I enjoy the fulfillment of the prophecies in the New Testament when Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ dies for our sins.
