You say that you believe in Creationism because it's in the Bible, and you discredit it (maybe not you personally, but I've seen plenty of you guys say this) because it doesn't say that God created apes to turn into humans, and that he didn't make the universe in a big boom...well, back then there was very little (indeed, if any) science as we know it, so why even bother saying that? Do you have any other "proof" regarding Creationism, and do you have anything that busts evolution? But if you cannot answer the last two, at least, please, answer me the first question.

See the Light- Ok...you say you believe in the Bible account, knowing full well (I assume) that it was passed down for generations before being written down, and, just like all creation myths, were created to explain the then-unexplainable, am I correct? If I am, then...wow...Why do you believe in a book, when we have a lot of proof of evolution? Why, just...why? That's all I can ask...

NOIZE- Look, just by LOOKING at the stars, one can say that they are innumberable. I thought that even a toddler knew that, but instead you need science and your book to know that? Also, us atheists and scienttists do not claim that there were no towns that were the basis of the Biblical places, just because there is archeological proof, does not equal proof in and out of itself, because it could be the wrong town, or it could have just existed. So, by your reckoning with that, does that mean the Illiad was a factual representation of the Trojan War?

Kathy- My realm of understanding is fairly adequate. I only say that because most bible-thumpers are Creationists, and most Creationists are bible-thumpers. Everything ends at death, but eventually, evolution, in ways I do not understand, since I am only mortal and no mortal will every obtain omni-intelligence, occurs. How can a moth turn into a butterfly though, I am most curious. Also, where is your proof of your creation myth? And...you have a misunderstanding, Noah took along seven pairs of "clean" animals, and two pairs of "unclean" animals. Now, there is not enough genetic diversity to create the amount of diversity we see today. Also, what about the aquatic fauna, I do not understand how a whale, a salt-water animal, could survive side-by-side with, say, a goldfish, which is a fresh-water animal. That must be a pretty cool solution God made to solve that problem...

Well, I'm what is called an "evolutionary creationist". I believe that both the big bang and evolution were natural processes ordained and sustained by God to create the universe and human life. And you are correct, it doesn't say that God used evolution to turn apes into humans.

You've correctly identified an important point of the debate though - the fact that the science at the time Genesis was written was nothing like it was today. When God inspired those verses, he had to accomodate the people he was talking to be "dumbing himself down". If he tried telling someone with no scientific knowledge that millions of years of slow and natural genetic manipulation by adaptation and natural selection resulted in the creation of the numerous species we know today, they would have had no clue what he meant. The creation account in Genesis is MASSIVELY simplified.

I believe in the "two divine books model", that is the divine books of God's words (the bible), and God's works (science). The purpose of the bible is to say THAT God created, not HOW he created. Now that we have modern science, I believe that we are slowly discovering the mechanisms behind creation. And judging by how long it took us to figure these things out, God must be pretty darn smart!

I believe that the Bible and Science are equally valid. If they disagree, it is because we've made a scientific error, or that we're interpreting the bible wrong.

For example, Genesis 11:30 states that "But Sarai was barren, she had no children". Many feminists say that this is an example of patriarchal oppression in the bible, blaming women for reproductive difficulties, even though we now know that men can be the cause too.

Like you said though, the science of the day was that "a man planted his seed inside the women, and if it did not grow, the woman was barren". And this made sense at the time. They had no microscopes, and as far as they knew, seeds were never defective. Much of their knowledge at the time was based on observations about how plants grew. This is why the Greek phrase "kataballo sperma" means both to plant seeds in a field, and to ejaculate. Likewise, the Greek word "steiros" meant a barren field, or a barren woman. To the early people, they were one and the same.

This shows how a misinterpretation of the bible can lead to problems.

To answer your last two questions:
1. No. There is no proof of creationism. However, the unbelievably immense complexity of nature seems to point to a designer, in my opinion.

2. No, there is no evidence to bust evolution.

So, a cross section of my beliefs because of all this:

I am a strong, unapologetic, evangelical Christian. When I look at nature, I see a declaration of the glory of God. I believe the bible is the infallable Holy Spirit inspired word of God. I am also a committed evolutionist. I think that the evidence for evolution is overwhelming. I have yet to see evidence that falsifies the theory of evolution. Biology makes sense in the light of evolution.

Ok, i see a lot lately that you guys believe there is no such thing as evolution. Well, what about dinosaurs? Are we to believe that man existed alongside them? (Yes, they did.)And if so, why are they gone (Noah's flood) and we are here (Noah's family was saved in the Ark during the flood). And am I supposed to believe that the whole world flooded? (You can believe it or not, but that's what happened). I just got done reading that mass can't be created or destroyed (Did you tell God that?), so where did all the water go (Evaporation) ? And how did a few guys build something so massive as to hold and feed (Two of each animal) all the animals on earth for forty days ( It was actually almost a little over a year they were on the Ark) when a zoo pays thousands of dollars to feed these animals daily (Noah used God's plan, and took baby animals into the Ark).So you're telling me that everyone is the son of abraham (NO, just Jews and Arabs), or adam and eve, or both ( Adam & Eve were the first humans) (Abraham was the father of Israel & Ishmael) I have seen studies about how inbreeding causes genetic shortcomings and deformities, mental problems(ie west virginia) so how did the human race overcome that and now it cant. God provided protection from that till the human race was of such number as not needing to interbreed. So what color were adam and eve (Good question) I mean, I always see them dipicted as white, so what eve popped out a black kid and an asian kid "miraculously" because the obviously didnt evolve that way? (The various ethnicities came into being after Noah and his sons left the ark. You will see which son was the father of which nations as stated in the Bible.)

Since you refer to creationists as bible thumpers I would presume to think that you dont believe in the bible so anything religious based is not in your relm of understanding but if you are interested then think of it this way:
Do you believe that everything ends at death? (Because everything begins at birth), If an ape died, that would end so how would time go on and an ape would evolve into a human? A tadpole Evolves into a frog. A moth to a butterfly, but the ape to human thing I cant buy into.
But since I am a Bible thumper I will throw a few bible things in there
!. God made Adam in his own image.
2. Noah collected two of every animal onto the ark ape and human also.

ok the first guy said not to use bible scripture for proof, can I compare bible scripture with reality? I'll guess yes but no bible for proof.
ok using that......
There IS proof for creation its just not as well advertised.
First there is the fact that we are all incredibly complex (so is everything else) and the first thing that makes you doubt evolution is... How could we completely complex structures have evolved entirely from chemical soup (mostly hydrogen or so I've heard) That is just observation right there, but that makes me doubt evolution.

Secondly :
1. The Fossil Record...Evolutionists have constructed the Geologic Column in order to illustrate the supposed progression of "primitive" life forms to "more complex" systems we observe today. Yet, "since only a small percentage of the earth's surface obeys even a portion of the geologic column the claim of their having taken place to form a continuum of rock/life/time over the earth is therefore a fantastic and imaginative contrivance." "[The lack of transitional series cannot be explained as being due to the scarcity of material. The deficiencies are real, they will never be filled." This supposed column is actually saturated with "polystrate fossils" (fossils extending from one geologic layer to another) that tie all the layers to one time-frame. "[To the unprejudiced, the fossil record of plants is in favor of special creation."

3. The Global Flood... The Biblical record clearly describes a global Flood during Noah's day. Additionally, there are hundreds of Flood traditions handed down through cultures all over the world. M.E. Clark and Henry Voss have demonstrated the scientific validity of such a Flood providing the sedimentary layering we see on every continent. Secular scholars report very rapid sedimentation and periods of great carbonate deposition in earth's sedimentary layers.. It is now possible to prove the historical reality of the Biblical Flood.

4. Population Statistics...World population growth rate in recent times is about 2% per year. Practicable application of growth rate throughout human history would be about half that number. Wars, disease, famine, etc. have wiped out approximately one third of the population on average every 82 years. Starting with eight people, and applying these growth rates since the Flood of Noah's day (about 4500 years ago) would give a total human population at just under six billion people. However, application on an evolutionary time scale runs into major difficulties. Starting with one "couple" just 41,000 years ago would give us a total population of 2 x 1089. The universe does not have space to hold so many bodies.

5. Radio Halos...Physicist Robert Gentry has reported isolated radio halos of polonium-214 in crystalline granite. The half-life of this element is 0.000164 seconds! To record the existence of this element in such short time span, the granite must be in crystalline state instantaneously. This runs counter to evolutionary estimates of 300 million years for granite to form.

This is one of my favorites right here:
6. Human Artifacts throughout the Geologic Column...Man-made artifacts - such as the hammer in Cretaceous rock, a human sandal print with trilobite in Cambrian rock, human footprints and a hand print in Cretaceous rock – point to the fact that all the supposed geologic periods actually occurred at the same time in the recent past.

7. Helium Content in Earth's Atmosphere... Physicist Melvin Cook, found that helium-4 enters our atmosphere from solar wind and radioactive decay of uranium. At present rates our atmosphere would accumulate current helium-4 amounts in less than 10,000 years.

Astronomical estimates of the distance to various galaxies gives conflicting data. The Biblical Record refers to the expansion of space by the Creator. Astrophysicist Russell Humphries demonstrates that such space expansion would dilate time in distant space. This could explain a recent creation with great distances to the stars.

Also to disprove evolution :
if we all came from a spinning dot smaller than a period, that spun out of control until it exploded hence all the planets being formed and everything spinning (theres a science law in there I don't know which one but it says that when something come off a spinning object it will spin THE SAME WAY as the object was spinning)
now stating that, 2 maybe 3 planets spin the wrong way and several moons spin the wrong way so thats that

I would like to point out that both creation and evolution are THEORIES! And neither can be PROVED because we weren't there!
BUT they can be evidenced beyond a shadow of a doubt which fairs pretty well for the courts (not exclusively but still good enough that they use it)

So let the truth be evidenced!

You have no proof on evolution...it’s a known fact that evolution is a flawed theory. You obviously don't know much about evolution nor the Bible. The Bible continues to prove history and fact through archeological discoveries and science. For example the Bible declared that the stars are uncountable and only a few hundred years ago people kept trying to number them. Only recent science (through advanced telescopes) has admitted that the stars are innumerous. You don't see the truth because you don't want to turn from your sin, you like the darkness and the light makes you uncormfortable.

Well, first of all I DO believe in the big bang theory. I think it describes the way God started it all. I believe the big bang shows us we had a beginning/creator.

One of the main reasons I don't believe in the theory of Evolution is the fossil record or I should say lack of fossil record. We have millions and millions of fossils and when one looks at the strata of the fossil record it shows no transitionary fossils. Not a one. There should be millions!

There is so much scientific evidence against evolution and for creation that I couldn't possibly list it all here. Instead, I will refer you to a great book, "The Evolution Cruncher" by Vance Ferrell. It contains about 5,000 scientific facts and quotes (even from evolutionists!) that prove that evolution is scientifically and mathematically impossible.
Our faith is not "blind".

Genesis is God's own telling of how He created everything. Evolution is an idea from the enemy that God allowed so that, in the end, it will glorify Him.

I believe in the Genesis record. It is God's eyewitness record on what happened in the beginning. Jesus came here on earth and He confirmed the OT record. The OT is the same now as it was at Jesus time. : )
