i have heard dogs would rather die of starvation than eat another dog,is this true

No its not true. I was walking on the ice a few winters ago, and I saw a dead, frozen dog that was killed by a snowmobile, and two dogs were eating it. One dog was chewing a back leg, and the other was ripping and swallowing the stomach area of the dead dog.

Unfortunately its not true. You only have to watch some of the many shows such as Animal Cops Detroit etc to see that dogs will resort to cannibalism if necessary. x

Dogs evolved from wolves. Wolves are known to eat injured members of their packs. If a dog lives with a large number of other dogs, and starts to gain these natural instincts for survival, then yes.

I know of cannibalism with some female dogs eating their puppies-this can be caused by immaturity or illness on the part of the mother.

die of starvation than eat another dog? my dog sometimes eat cook dog meat sometimes not. Back in indonesia my mom cook dogs only on x-mast day. But we dont cook our pets .In indonesia some ppl bread dogs sell them for this purposed .

unfortunately in the wild most animals will kill a deformed or sick baby and if food is scarce will eat the body. It is sad but true.
