:(

I am an atheist. But a few minutes ago... a friend told me that another friend of us took her life away :( And not only that. Also her four year old son's life :(

I feel kinda depressed now.
I don't believe... and sometimes I wish I could :(

*sigh* I feel I have to say something to reply to ZardoZ and Giggily's comments.
I am an atheist, but a very ignorant one. If so many of my questions are about God, that's because I want to know what believers think. Sometimes I say I am an atheist, sometimes I just let the question like that. Why stating it if it is not relevant for the answerers?
It is like hard that I am a troll if I've been here for so long. I am not one.

I see that my views would be different if I were a believer. I don't have that faith they have.
In a moment when I see the lack of sense in some action.. and don't know how to react, it is when I see believers have an "advantage", to call it some way.
I really can't pray, because it'd be hypocrital on my side, as I really don't believe :(

MZ_Corbin: I would never report an answer like yours.

Thanks to everybody for your kind answers.
I apologize if any thought this was a bad joke. I wish it were.

Thanks again for all answers.

you are still alive, praying is not bad. Weather you believe or not, praying can help,
let me start it for you :

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.

i provided a link for the rest of it, hope it helps you to feel better :)

Not every blood prevents you from praying. * The blood of menses is at most ten days and in between each menses their should be at least a gap of ten days; anything else (longer than 10 days or in less than ten days from ending your last menses -unless if it's not yet ten days from STARTING your last menses, e.g. you start bleeding on the 1st of the month and finish bleeding at the 4th of the month and start again on the 7th, then untill the 10th it's your menses and after that it's not-) would count az "Mustahadha". As far as I know (I'm about 90% sure), the blood during pregnancy(until the baby is not born) is also Mustahadha and not menses (Heidh) therefor you will have to pray! I advise you to ask an Imam about it. I'll edit my answer if I become certain. _______ When in Mustahadha, the rules of what you should do are different according to the amount of discharge. You either have to clean yourself for each prayer and do a new wudhu (not much discharge), or you have to make a ghusl for each prayer (a lot of discharge). Sorry everyone else for the details!!

I know I'm going to sound like a preacher, but bear with me.

I think He is trying to speak with you. A tragedy has happened and you feel as though you should help. And the solution for most? To pray. Praying is a vent for so many people. They know God is listening and will help, and even though you're an Atheist, you feel like praying would help too. I'm sorry for the tragedy, but it's not bad at all if you feel as if you need to pray. Perhaps you're, and I'm sorry for the cheesy-ness, seeing the light. I don't know, but if you wish you could believe in such things, try it out. You never know what will end up happening.

P.S. I now have someone to pray for ;)

You are right to want to pray, so good ahead. At least pray until you feel better. You are not praying for yourself, but for the people who died and the person who did the killing. The people left behind suffer a lot when a person commits suicide and they think they did something wrong, or said something, or in some way was responsible, which of course, is not the case. I am very sorry.

I'm a christian and I pray to my God. Even if you don't want to pray to God, talk to your friend. She'll be out there listening somewhere. It's never bad to pray, you can always give it a try. Sometimes it's just best to ask questions out loud, some see that as praying other see it as a way of release from all the emotions they're going through. I'll be praying for you though.

No, I don't think its bad at all. I think that you should do as you feel. I would want to pray about that kind of a loss as well. I was a Wicca for 6 1/2 years before becoming born again. I have also had my doubts. I will keep you in my prayers, if that is OK.

Prayer is for everyone. All you have to do is open your mouth and just speak, cry, whatever. It doesn't matter if you don't believe. What matters is how you feel when you are finished. Maybe, it will lead to something later on. I am sorry to hear of this. Taking your own life is one thing, but taking the life of an innocent child, it something entirely different. I am sad for you. I have said a prayer in your behalf.

No - it is not wrong to pray even if you previously said you don't believe in God. Sometimes God will use a tragedy to call us to himself. That is the first step to understanding that maybe things in this world aren't as they should be, and that there might be a better way to live life with each other and with God.

I offer you my sympathies on the tragic loss of your friend and her innocent son.

I'm an agnostic but believe me there have been times in my life that i have asked a favour upstairs. The reason i asked was that i could do nothing to help the situation and what can you do when you feel like that. If you're anything like me you feel helpless and weak right now and you need back up anything to stop this awful feeling inside. The back up aren't coming so you have to face it and you will. Take care.

Sorry Nat`s The only thing is do not feel guilty to follow your heart. Only follow ur instinc. And of course, pray doesnt hurt or harm. Only if u wnat to talk wiht that some one u feel is hearing u, do it. U dont need pray with the classical prayers. Only let go what ur feeling and thinking.
