I dont think its irak because irak doesnt have the business and money powers that Babylon is supposed to have according to revelation. And everyone knows washington is the most powerful city in the world, NY is the pinnacle of greed. Why wouldnt USA be Babylon? and its not ancient rome because ancient rome did not influence the economy of the entire world like the US does(if we are considering revelation as a prophecy)

No. Political governments or world powers are referred to as wild beasts with crowns on their heads. Babylon was famous for its being a religious center, all in opposition to the true God of the Bible. You have to think world wide, not just individual people or countries.

So Babylon the Great would symbolize all the world's false religions. Notice they got drunk on the spilled blood of the holy ones. They ride the wild beast and try to direct it. They are also in bed with the merchants who make a bundle of cash off of idols and other religious merchandise. It's fate is to be thrown off by the wild beast angry with her riding it.

Who does this remind you of? Beads, idols, statues, anything for a buck. No, not just Catholics. When you see a podium of politicians for some event, who do you see right there on prominent display with them? Some member of the clergy.

Isn't it odd that when Jews wanted to get Jesus involved in politics of the day, he would not do it to their frustration. In fact, sometimes he left town!

So no the USA is not Babylon but is a world power.
