Here in Va. buying a handgun is just a matter of going to the gun shop, filling out the paper work and waiting for the call-in background check which takes just a few minutes. If you plan to carry it concealed, you need to take a course and file paper work and you should have the permit in less than a month. As for price, it will depend on what you decide to buy. Just remember cheap handguns are cheap for a reason. If you are getting one for protection, buy a quality firearm since your life might depend on it. Any handgun from Springfield Armory, Glock, Smith & Wesson, Berretta, HK, Taurus, Ruger etc. will last for a lifetime if taken care of properly. Just remember to wear eye and ear protection while shooting. Have fun and be safe shooting.

In most pro guns state, it takes about 10-15 minutes to get a handgun from an FFL dealer.I don't know about the state of VA. New handguns start at about $150 up to $1500.

It only takes five (5)* to eight (8)* minutes in Pennsylvania.* I don't know about Virgina. When you purchase one buy used and save $$$$$$$$$.* The new ones don't shoot any better than a used one.* Nothing less than a 357 Magnum because you can also shoot 38 caliber ammo in it.* You get two (2)* guns for the price of one (1)*. Great caliber for self defense, Hunting & target shooting.** It is a genuine man stopper.* I recommend either Smith & Wesson or Colt Brands.* I have both.* Its not what you pay for something that matters, its what you get for what you pay.* I don't know if its true, but I heard it was real easy to purchase handguns in Virginia.*

price depends on the model. and its hard to get a handgun everywhere. I think someplaces the waiting time may differ. But there is a waiting period. You must pass a background check and in some states you cannot owe federal debts.
