I recommend preaching about how we each are able to change the world in some way. About how even one seemingly insignifigant thing we do could truely help save a person, an animal, a town, a world. We each can help somehow and it does not need to cost anything. Ask everyone to try to do something each day that they know will benefit someone or something else. Our current world has changed a lot this century but we are all able to stay positive and make a difference. Write a letter to a world leader, paint a picture for a deaf person, make a cd for a blind person, volunteer some time at the local nursing home, hospital, drop in centre. Donate old furniture or clothing to your local salvation army. Some tinned food to a poverty centre or animal shelter.

The reason I quit going to church!
. . . I was surrounded by hypocrites. God isn't only at church on sundays or whenever you choose to go, or only in the church building. And neither should God's followers be. True christians are christians all the time . . . constantly trying to do God's bidding.
I personally believe going out and preaching isn't called for but living by example is a great responsibility and requirement. I think one of the main reasons people who don't believe in God don't . . . is because none of the followers lead a good example. I also think that no person should claim to "be" any certain religion. . . they may believe certain things from a given religion. . . but not every person believes every part of "their" religion. Maybe they should say when asked that they try to follow the "fill in blank" religion. (and I mean to insert what religion they claim, not to say the fill in blank religion!)
And another thing . . . ! Titheing . . . yeah it's a great concept, but I don't believe churches use it properly or teach it. . . God wants people to give their best at all times right . . .? and to give to those in need right . . . ? If one chooses to give 10% or whatever was agreed upon by a council of men, at one point or another, . . . sure give to the church to pay the buildings bills or whatever, but if you think about it. . . a member of a congregation who gives to their own congregation . . . is just practicing a seemingly selfless and giving form of selfishness. If you want to tithe . . . you don't have to give money! . . . you got time, you got skill . . . give that! sure you might have money to help some people or situations sometime, but why not help rebuild a house, a porch, clean a yard, mow a lawn . . . for free! If you got time, grab some of your "follower" friends and offer your services to a complete stranger. Paint a house or something. If you're a mechanic . . . fix a car for free, you don't got the cash for parts . . . ? no problem. . . there is a congregation full of followers that are ready to give! . . . That IS part of their religion right? ? ? you get the idea.
The point is that God is everywhere. People who don't know that can learn that by seeing the actions of Gods followers. . . outside the church building . . . in real life! You can't see God . . . but you can see the effects of the love of God.
My advice . . . don't claim to be something you're not. . . And spread the love!

Funny that you should ask!
Someone, it would seem, has had that very question on their mind. Here is the answer straight from the prophet's mouth:

Isa 40:6 The voice said, Cry. And he said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field:
Isa 40:7 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: because the spirit of the LORD bloweth upon it: surely the people is grass.
Isa 40:8 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.

It looks to me like the message here is the unfailing word of God, and people will always need to be reminded of this eternal Truth. Many people have dedicated (and lost) their very lives, and paid dearly, to bring these words to us freely today. This is a priveledge many take entirely for granted.
Perhaps you can start your sermon there, and continue wherever it may take you.

Why preach, you could just read scripture to them
and do a little explaining instead.
A lot of people are turned off
by all the fire and brimstone.
If you have people in the congregation
who just came to check out Christianity,
this would probably be
the quickest way to
keep them in their own faith.
But this is only a suggestion
from another point of view.
(See...I was nice for a change.)

I read through all the answers and no one suggested that you talk about something you know something about. Can anyone give a sermon or do you have to know something in order to talk about god and the Bible. Preach on something you think you know about.

Take a look around you, what do you see? Are you happy with the way people talk and treat each other? How do you feel when people spread gossip about another person? When people go to church do they go for the sermon or to check people out so that they can talk about them after church? The LORD WANTS US PURE OF HEART, DEED AND MIND , so you ask yourself are you pure of heart, deed and mind? Dear, i'm just giving you things you can preach about, i hope they are of some help. my prayers are with you.Go with God in your heart and mind.

Tolerance. Preach tolerance because if you haven't noticed, there isn't alot of that going around these days. There are people so hung up on differences of others that they are not taking time to get to know one another before they judge. Now there are nooses hanging from trees, on college campuses, police officers racially profiling citizens, even people of the same ethnicity hating their own. If we don't teach our children to tolerate, then this circle of hatred will just keep revolving around the world.

How about a way that will help all of us help each other in this world without being judged/labeled by the media.

No race, color, religion or culture should come between mankind being there for each other.

The bad will always be bad, no matter where they are from. But the good can spread the good no matter where they are from.
