my daughter always throws a fit because i wont let her have a boyfriend.She is only twelve.Do you agree or am i being to harsh.?.?...

ok. like it or not kids grow up faster now, but i do agree with you. i have a family member that works for the welfare office and has 12-13 yo's come in all the time because they are pregant and want the tax dollars to pay for it. deal with the fits or you will be dealing with much bigger issues later.

12?!?!?!? you are SO right in keeping her away from having a boyfriend at that age.. she might think she ABSOLUTELY needs one because *everyone* has one but in reality, her hearts going to broken and all the relationships she'll have won't last for long... she's in middle school now and she's gonna be pressured to do those kinds of things but you just have to keep up your guard because what she really needs in the end is a supportive mother who's always looking out for her well-being.

You tell her that she can date when you think she is MATURE ENOUGH to date.
Tell her that if she is throwing tantrums at age 12, she may not be allowed to date until she is 25.
You can't be best friends with your kid. Be a parent... which means exercising all authority and instilling discipline.

I think she is way too young for a boyfriend. Even at 16 they are a little young but at least they have a little more common sense. Still at 16 they need pretty tight curfews and rules when dating.

At that age, are you kidding me? This is an easy question, what are you going to do when you have to make a tough decision?! 12 is way too young.

Just tell her that she'll have to wait however many years you wish for her to wait. I can see how you wouldn't want her to have a boyfriend. If she throws another fit..ground her..she'll get it eventually. :O)
