A piercing is basically a puncture wound to your flesh. If it was done with a hollow needle, there is less trauma, but when the piercing is done with the piercing "gun", it can be more bruised and sore.
What you're experiencing is normal. Because the lip moves every time you speak or eat, it's going to be more sore than an earlobe, which is a pretty stationary part of the body.
Keep an eye out for tell-tale signs of infection (redness/puffyness/oozing) and see your doctor if they appear!
I hope that helps!

Since the piercing is new, expect pain and swelling. Taking 2 ibuprofen every 4 hours can help. Remember to rinse you mouth for at LEAST 30 seconds with an alcohol free antiseptic mouthwash anytime you put anything in your mouth that is not bottled water! A warm sterile sea salt solution 2 times a day is awesome for your piercing AND feels great! it also helps draw out impurities that can cause infection. ALSO if the swelling is really irritating you, suck on ice. NOT chewing it, bought ice is better, it tends to be better filtered than just plain ice made from tap water. Don't forget to rinse!! ALSO for the outside, avoid anything with alcohol in it, like astringents, bactine, that sort of thing, and NO neosporin! its a grease trap for germs! also NO hydrogen peroxide! it kills healing flesh. the worst of the pain should be over in 3-4 days, but it will take a little longer before it doesnt hurt if you bump it, and it will take about 6 weeks to fully heal. If you are healthy, eat well, get enough sleep and drink plenty of water your body heals faster and better. so stay healthy and your piercing will too! =)

I don't know anything about lip peircings but I do have my tongue peirced. And I know when I first got it done when I used it alot like talking and stuff it would start to hurt.
When you first get a peircing it's nothing but a big sore with a ring or bar in it. So talking and eatting and playing with it is gonna make it sore.
And well with the lip you can't really avoid not touching it. So all you can really do is give it time to heal and keep it clean. If you can keep the iratations to a min. In a matter of no time it is gonna feel so much better and you will forget all about the pains of it healing up.

Use bactine liberally and make sure to do the half water-half listerine concoction as much as possible (I put mine in a water bottle and carried it with me everywhere). I mean, think about it, you just got a hole stabbed through your lip. At the core of it all, clearly it isn't going to be rainbows and bubbles in that area for a little while. But chill, no touching, don't swap spit with people, and keep the antibacterial agents comin. You'll be good.

That's very normal. The same thing happened to me when I got my lip pierced. Don't worry, the pain will eventually fade.

I would assume there would be some pain because you got a ring put in your lip where there was once nothing. Once you get used to it you'll be fine.

That is normal, it will be sore for like a week and get better past there. It's still really new, keep it clean and follow the aftercare instructions given to you.

You put a hole thru your lip. There are nerves there. Ever bit your lip? It hurts for days. I would keep it clean with listerine or salt water. If it becomes red and puffy, I would see a dr.

It'll hurt for a week or so while you adjust to it. But the pain will fade away eventually. =)
