John 14:6 "Jesus said unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes to the Father, but by me."
Could this have been more meaningful in the poetic sense, like Jesus was speaking (being a mouthpiece) for the Truth and the Life?
Like if I said: "I am the wind. I cool you in the summer, yet I can also level great buildings..." I don't mean I'm the wind, of course, but I'm illustrating some truth about it (the wind) by speaking as though I'm it; in a poetic sense.
So maybe Jesus was referring to the nature of the eternal lifestream...that you can only return to God on His Lifestream, only this Way. And the truth: by living a truthful life, free of deception and lies. Or, is this passage to be more literal: Jesus the man, being the only one ever?
Or yet, something beyond all this, even?

Like, Jesus fully identified Himself with The Eternal Lifestream; was in fact, "It".
And if so, the could someone get connnected to (and saved by) The Eternal Lifestream and yet, not heard the name "Jesus" - not heard of the Bible?

Jesus is the only one who can lift the darkness. Jesus is the gate to a satisfying life. Jesus is the friend and shepherd.. Jesus is the life - in this world and the next. This passage shows the bible teaches that there is no other way to salvation than through Christ

Since Jesus is also called "The Word" by Apostle John, then definitely Jesus is saying that He is The Truth. Whatever He says is truth. The Word of God is Truth. When truth is so desperately needed because of deceiving men it is good to know that God's Word is Truth.

“I am . . . the truth,” Jesus said. (John 14:6) Yes, he lived in such a way as to fulfill God’s truth. God’s purpose in connection with the Kingdom and its Messianic Ruler had been spelled out in prophecy. Jesus, by his entire earthly life course, which culminated in his sacrificial death, fulfilled all the things prophesied about him. He thus confirmed and guaranteed the truth of Jehovah’s prophetic word. For this reason the apostle Paul could say: “No matter how many the promises of God are, they have become Yes by means of him. Therefore also through him is the ‘Amen’ [meaning, “so be it,” or “surely”] said to God for glory through us.” (2 Cor. 1:20) Yes, Jesus is the one in whom God’s promises find fulfillment.—Rev. 3:14.

Jesus means that by Him and following Him, is the only way to get to God. And yes, Jesus is a "mouthpiece" for truth, because He IS the truth. And yes, you can only return to God HIS way. Because, as Jesus has said, His way is the only way. Hopefully this is clear for you.

I have asked a question very similar to this once
I read it as
this is how you must be in order to reach that level where the Godhead sits
we must become Christ like to attain the highest spiritual level
it doesnt mean that we must believe in Jesus as a saviour ... but Jesus as an example

Ether way, the only way is Jesus
It was Thomas that asked him "how can we know the way?"
Jesus replied "I am the way, the truth and the life..."
saying that Jesus is the only way to Heaven
but what your saying still works
just by saying Gods Way
which is to follow Jesus

IT is literal- normally before Jesus people would listen to the old testament and be able to get to heaven that way, but so many failed he tried a new path that was more up to date (like installing a 4.0) he sent his Son to die on the cross to make it easier (like making a shortcut on the desktop) so in order to get to heaven you got to "Click" on Jesus.

A little of everything you said. The main thing is Jesus paid for the "sin". He is our Savior, our enlightenment, our path, to Truth.

the way , truth and light is Jesus; you only follow the path to heaven by and through him; to not accept the son is to not accept the greatest gift that he gave mankind
