Do you think that people who do the brainwashing use subliminal messages so the other people aren't aware of what's being done to them?

Subliminal messages are messages your brain unconsciously takes in, and brain washing is a non-violent method that uses mind control techniques to convince a person to abandon prior beliefs. So in the right context, brainwashing could happen through subliminal messaging, get it?

Hello Denie,

To answer your question YES! However not all types of 'brain washing' are misleading and deceptive. Take for eg. religion. The reason religion has survived in the world for so long is that it purports to answer the question 'where did we come from (all nature) why are we here and where are we going, if anywhere? Legitimate religions perform beneficial functions for humanity. Nevertheless some persons don't believe in a deity and that's ok too. No deity that I know of forces anyone (by holding your hands behind your back to believe in them and have some sort of spiritual relationship to them). So subliminal religious messages according to the sacred text serve a beneficial purpose.

I don't know in what context you are querying the use of subliminal messaging to brainwash people but it must be in the negative sense like 'pulling the wool over people's eyes ' deliberately to lead them down a harmful path?

Brainwashing happens all the time. A guy uses subliminal words to express 'real' or 'fake' love to get a girl into bed. A girl uses words to persuade some guy that he's the father of her child simply because he's her current boyfriend or the most well-endowed financially. Marketing research is all about finding ways to appeal most convincingly to consumers to buy product X or Y or Z. Making money fortunately or unfortunately uses the subliminal approach of presenting only the good qualities about your product or business. Is this unethical? Maby? IS it illegal? You know it's not.

The brainwashing I'm fervently against are:

1. Religious groups who claim to mean well but disrupt, distort and confuse genuine people to believe in sacrificing their very lives by commiting suicide even mass suicide.

2. Pornography that has convinced more thatn one generation of men that 'bigger is better' with statistics that claim that 66% of women surveyed are'nt satisafied in bed by their men or dated men who were not satisfied by the size of their male organ.

These types of deceptions need to be stamped out by the govenment but I doubt it will ever happen in America, unfortunately.

And the list goes on. However making money at all costs is I believe at the root ofthe problem of 'subliminal brainwashing' and not the actual medium itself. So more and better regulation is necessary. Too many kids in America the land of the free and home of the brave are developing health/mental issues and problems based on the negative effects of subliminal brainwashing.

Hope this helps some.

In the love of Christ Jesus,

Barry H

Yes, I think they use that technique, but its effectiveness is questionable. It seems to have some effect on some people and no effect on others and is not any more effective than overt techniques, for example, playing a tape of something you have to study over and over while you sleep is not any more effective or could be less effective than studying awake.
