I have to do a history paper where i make a colonial broadside. in the beginning of the paper i want to say something like "dear fellow europeans". however i want it to sound more authentic. what are some phrases or words europeans said in the 1600s? Thanks for your help.

They wouldn't be speaking English for a start. Latin was on its way out and France was becoming the lingua franca.

Read any play by Shakespeare. There's a lot of everyday (early) 17th Century language in the plays and you'll get a great idea of how ordinary people spoke to each other. Remember, Shakespeare wrote his plays for the people of the time, they all understood them whether or not they were educated (most of them weren't).
