First off, hi! I'm 13, and so is my friend. She's a mormon, and I really want to give her a tarot card reading. I want to ask her parents first, but I just want to make sure they won't react all freaked out... I know a lot of people believe that tarot cards are 'evil' and I respect that, and I also don't want to make my friend feel uncomfortable. So how would you react?
I also don't want to ruin my relationship with her parents. They only recently started to like me and not hate me (I've known my friend since we were 4, and I was a real butt when I was little), and I don't want them to hate me again.

Thank you guys very much for your opinions. I've decided I think I just won't ask her... I don't want to damage our friendship! I'll just stick to reading for my mom and dad and cousins!

Well, your friends parents are not going to hate you no matter what you do... However, they will probably have objections to the tarot card reading...
To answer how I would react. I'd simply tell my son/daughter that we really don't agree with the use of Tarot cards and then he/she would give you an answer - not us!!
Hope that helps.

I don't think they'd freak out, but they would decline your offer. Not only do we not believe in such superstitious stuff, but we believe it has occultic roots and we keep away from all that sort of thing. Probably best just not to do the reading.
If you want to know what is in her future, why not ask her about her patriarchal blessing, if she has had one? That's like a special blessing where the patriarch tells you God's plan for your life if you remain worthy. It's a very personal thing, so she might not want to tell you much detail. If there is a reason you want to give her a reading, then maybe this will satisy that.

As a long-time Mormon, I strongly suggest you keep the tarot cards to yourself and never bring them in the presence of your friend or your friend's family.
We view tarot cards as unrighteous activities that speak of divination and witchcraft. Don't take a chance of ruining your friendship by bringing known your penchant for tarot card playing.

I am an atheist parents and I would disapprove of anyone reading tarot cards to my daughter. I also think if your concerned with your like-ability with these parents - you should not even bring it up.
Good you asked non-biased parties. That shows forethought :)
Good Luck.

don't do it around her parents and ask HER not her parents if she wants a tarot reading. it's not their decision. your friend has a heart and a mind. yeah u guys are only 13 and all but i'm pretty sure she can decide for herself if she wants to be involved in something like that or not. if she says no respect it and move on.

I wouldn't hate you. I'd be happy that you respected me enough to ask me. And I would leave the decision up to my daughter. I would want to talk to her before hand (just to tell her we don't really believe in that stuff but that it can be fun but she shouldn't take it seriously) but I would let her decide.

I agree with you; unless she comes out of a clear blue sky and asks you, it's just better if you don't.
Some Mormons are open minded about this stuff, and some aren't.

It is nice that you stopped and asked, before you did anything. I think each set of parents will react differently, but in general, it is not approved.

in the event that they are certainly Mormon, then they (in comparison to many different Christian denominations) could understand this youthful lady’s ideals even nonetheless they fluctuate from their own, and understand her suited to have them. it is one element that gadgets Mormons different than for different Christians. i could think of it may be slightly uncomfortable for them if this youthful woman unearths it in herself to be impolite adequate to objective and convert them, as many different Christian denominations could inspire her to do. additionally, Mormons often choose to maintain marital pairings interior the religion, and for that reason could be choosy from time to time approximately who their toddlers date, for the reason that each and every lady pal or boyfriend could be a ability significant different. that is through fact they have faith in religious family contributors timber, in that families will stay appropriate interior the afterlife, yet in hassle-free terms see you later as each and every member is Mormon. i've got yet to comprehend this thoroughly, yet it is the way it improve into defined to me. i'm very fortunate. i'm courting a outstanding youthful guy who comes from a Mormon family contributors, and in spite of the reality that his mom concerns approximately my being Wiccan through entire religious family contributors ties element, they have common me and love me with open hearts, and that i them. i'm hoping this enables; blessed be!
