I heard from my yonger son (58) yesterday. I was overjoyed. My Children have all left the State because of needing jobs. This son's factory closed down after he had worked there for 29 years!

If it has veen a while sence you called your elderly parent why not just pick up the phone and make their day a little brighter!

My Mother is with the Lord, and my Father suffered a massive stroke a little over 2 years ago. I love it when my two son's call me as well.

My mom and I live in different countries (for now). She's very lonely, and so am I. I call her at least twice a week. I like to talk to her and tell her how my life is going and I love even more to hear how she's doing. I like to talk about simple things that happen to us, as well as those deep conversations. I belive that's what keeps us together, no matter the distance.

Oh, and every time I call her, I tell her that I love her.

You couldn't be more right. My son is almost 30 and I talk to him a couple times a week. Even more if need be.

He has a wife and 2 children and I love to hear my little grand babies voices.

It truly brightens your day. The best phone calls are no reason.

My children(4 of them) and I used to be so close. Now they rarely call and I seldom see them. Not even the one 45 miles away or the one that lives here in town. I just started calling each of them once a week. They seem glad to hear from me. If you wait for them to call you will never hear from them. Reach out and touch THEM instead! (PS: I call my dad everyday and visit him 5 times a week!)

I call my father every day. I lost my mom in May to a long illness & it really made me evaluate how I have neglected both my parents. Now that my dad lives alone, it's more important than ever for me to make sure I hear from him every day.

When they were alive, I called almost daily. I had a close relationship with them, especially once I got married at 23.
