child: age 12, male

(bipolar disorder, drug abuse, and depression run in almost everyone in his family)

he seems manic, one minute he's sitting and drawing, the next he's bouncing off the walls, screaming for a toy, he get violent when refused, uses force and verbally abuses everyone, he is easily angered, demands privacy to a scary level, he has fits of gibberish when were just yells on the top of his lungs singing or talking to himself while he pushes himself around the kitchen floor on his back, he whilstles for hours to annoy everyone and refuses to stop, will not concentrate on homework and refuses to read, watches excessive tv (very violent and pornographic), has never listened to his parent or accepted punishment, he tends to punish everyone around him, always claims ot be unloved and extremly bored.

What is wrong with him? I think its ADHD and Bipolar Disorder, but I could be wrong.

Any ideas, guys?

ADHD and Oppositional Defiant Disorder (deliberate disrespect for adults and authority figures). Bipolar is possible, but the same symptoms could be attributed to ODD. It's better to diagnose a childhood disorder to a child and not give an adult diagnosis like Bipolar unless it's absolutely necessary.

Yeah, he could have ADHD or be Bipolar, but it would really be impossible to tell without taking him to a specialist.
With children, they are often reluctant to give diagnoses, too, as many things (such as personality disorders) "cant" be diagnosed in under 18s.
In order to get the best kind of help, he would need to see a doctor and be referred to a psych.
It sounds like a lot of this is just learned behaviour from growing up in a difficult environment where he either thinks this stuff is normal or just doesn't know any different.
My advice would be that he needs help ASAP before things get even worse and even more out of control.
Sounds like he just needs a lot of time and care and attention, and above all, love and understanding. It will be tough, but you will get there.

It does sound possible that he is both ADHD and bipolar. In my experience bipolar swings in the young take much longer in between to change from one to the other, and I don't have so much experience of ADHD. You could try to control his diet a little. He should not be having too many sugary snacks or food colouring and things like coffee and coca-cola can cause high behaviour in some. It is even possible for some children to be affected by things like tomatoes. You could try starting a food diary and record when he is at his worst and try to make connections. ( and he definitely shouldn't be watching that sort of tv at age 12)

I think it could be a combination of his parents possibly abusing him and he is acting out how he was treated. Or he could feel unloved and be trying to get attention. ADHD could be part of the problem. It sounds like there's conduct disorder here, as if this is strongly leading to antisocial personality disorder.

ADHD or FASD possibly even a form of autisim but it could be several disorders together including bipolar....his family should have him tested thats the only sure way to find out.

It sounds right to me, but I would get a psych evaluation for him. I'm bipolar and was misdiagnosed as ADHD when I was a kid. Medication really helped me and I think talking to your doctor about a medication for him would be a great idea.

I can only make guess... It would be Hyperactivity, and probably autism. Autism is a spectrum disorder, meaning that they can be high functioning or low functioning.
The child needs to be evaluated by professionals. He could also have oppositional defiant disorder.

ADHD and bipolar is right i think and that boy need real discipline and maybe he really feels like he is unloved his parents need to ask him why he feels this way and fix it or explain why he shouldn't feel that way like they really love him and stuff like that

What relation is this child to you?

Has the childs diet ever been checked out? If all they eat is junk food full of additives they may affect their behavior.

I would go for the ADHD. Only a doctor can tell you this though. What do they think?
