Hasn't it been like 500 years since the reformation? Have they just not got the message? Do they simply not know? Is it just that they were born into it?

I don't get it.

How is Protestant heresy any worse than Catholic heresy?

the irony is in the Eucharist. 500yrs ago, Thousands of Protestant Christians died for not believing in the transubstantiation of the mass. Today the Catholic church states that the Eucharist is a commune to Christ, that is is done to remember him. this is what the Protestant consubstantiation was all about, it is not irony it is hypocritical and downright wrong! the catholic church will carry on changing its doctrine to suit modern day thinking in order to survive, just like it has for the last two millennium! the catholic church is just a front for the religious bureaucrats who are more bothered about profit and power than they are for their followers souls.

religion is subjugation of the conscience. emancipate yourself and you will see the truth!

because catholics realize that the reformation and anything outside of catholicism is catholic lite. the reformers and current protestants do not have the fullness of truth found only in the catholic church, jesus established the catholic church and promised the holy spirit would guide it and protect it, 2000 years later the church is still strong and still teaches the same truth as taught back then. read the early church fathers the bible the catechism and you will see it for yourself, study where the bible came from and how it came to be and you will again see it is a catholic book compiled by catholics.

try the challenge and make your own conclusions, on the link check out the conversion stories of ex protestants that were once vehemently opposed to catholicism only to realize that the catholic church is the "real deal", these people were not "born into it" they were free thinking people smart enough to see the truth.

That's an odd question. I belong to the Evangelical church. Of course we don't believe quite the same way as Catholic Crusader that the Catholic church is the only true Christian church (I believe that any denomination that believes in the Bible and salvation by grace is part of the Universal Church established by Jesus) but I also don't think the Catholic Church is outdated or anything. Why should Catholics become Protestants? (And why should we Protestants become Catholics, either?) I have quite a few Catholic friends, and they're great people. Very devout, and nearly all of them have strong Bible-based beliefs. They just happen to belong to the Catholic Church.

As Catholic Crusader pointed out, it's the oldest denomination and all others are offshoots of it. That's of course because we have issues with the organization of the Catholic Church and certain beliefs of theirs. But again, those beliefs don't make them any less Christian just because they aren't Protestant. And there's no reason at all they should abandon Catholicism to become Protestants.

I was a Protestant for almost 50 years, 25 of those years as a minister before becoming a Catholic priest. Many of us are coming home to Christ's Church.

Pilot (avator photo)

From Scripture, we can see that the Catholic Church:

is one, unified

is holy, but not all who belong to it will be saved

is universal (ie, "katholikos" in Greek, or "Catholic")

is Apostolic

is hierarchical and has bishops (episkopos), priests (presbyteros or "elders"), and deacons (diakonos)

is the Pillar and Ground of Truth

is the "light of the world", visible, cannot be hid

was founded by Christ through Peter, whom He made the Church's earthly father, and the Gates of Hell cannot prevail against it

EDIT:

cheir -

Seek knowledge in Catholicism before quoting.

The Catholic position on salvation can be summed up thus:

We are saved by Christ's grace alone, through faith and works done in charity inspired by the Holy Spirit.

Catholic Crusader: Why have you plagiarize your response?

You would have received more of a kudos if you weren't claiming your knowledgeable response as your own when you should have linked it.

What a good Catholic you are. Shame shame.

(EDIT) It appears he deleted it!!!! HAHAHAHA

Because we don't accept protestant heresy. Jesus promised, "I will build my Church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it" (Matt. 16:18). This means that his Church will never be destroyed and will never fall away from him. His Church will survive until his return.

Among the Christian churches, only the Catholic Church has existed since the time of Jesus. Every other Christian church is an offshoot of the Catholic Church. The Eastern Orthodox churches broke away from unity with the pope in 1054. The Protestant churches were established during the Reformation, which began in 1517. (Most of today’s Protestant churches are actually offshoots of the original Protestant offshoots.)

Only the Catholic Church existed in the tenth century, in the fifth century, and in the first century, faithfully teaching the doctrines given by Christ to the apostles, omitting nothing. The line of popes can be traced back, in unbroken succession, to Peter himself. This is unequaled by any institution in history: Even the oldest government is new compared to the papacy. The Catholic Church has existed for nearly 2,000 years, despite constant opposition from the world. This is testimony to the Church’s divine origin: Any merely human organization would have collapsed long ago. The Catholic Church is today the most vigorous church in the world (and the largest, with a billion members: one sixth of the human race), and that is testimony not to the cleverness of the Church’s leaders, but to the protection of the Holy Spirit.

Jesus’ Church is called catholic ("universal" in Greek) because it is his gift to all people. He told his apostles to go throughout the world and make disciples of "all nations" (Matt. 28:19–20). For 2,000 years the Catholic Church has carried out this mission, preaching the good news that Christ died for all men and that he wants all of us to be members of his universal family (Gal. 3:28). Nowadays the Catholic Church is found in every country of the world and is still sending out missionaries to "make disciples of all nations" (Matt. 28:19).

The Church Jesus established was known by its most common title, "the Catholic Church," at least as early as the year 107, when Ignatius of Antioch used that title to describe the one Church Jesus founded. The title apparently was old in Ignatius’s time, which means it went all the way back to the time of the apostles.

It goes to show you with the two groups how divided christian religion is, who's side is god on one would wonder. Why the division, is God that partial and divided that he has two groups claiming to serve him. these are the things I pondered about and the reason I can understand who the world empire of false religion is that Revelation speaks about when he states to get out of her my people.
